I have a feeling we're going to hear even more shocking news about this woman as time goes on.

This woman is out for one person's interest, and one alone ... hers. She doesn't care about children beyond being a source of "paper," as in money. As a hard-working taxpayer with a back injury from a previous job (from which I collected $0 on disability - I worked through the pain), I am tired of people like this woman, and many like her, who work the system and drain it dry. This is a fitting example of why California is in a $40 billion deficit.

For those who say the negative comments about this woman (I refuse to mention her name) is disgusting and sad, I can only say to you, call our legislators and offer donations every month to this woman for the next 18 years and then follow through with it. If you don't, you're hypocritical and would be better served thinking about your own actions.

These 14 kids are going to suffer greatly (and apparently already are) but there are millions more in this country alone that suffer more and I don't believe putting the interests of these 14 ahead of all those others is responsible or reasonable. This woman created this mess and she needs to solve it by herself.

I can't imagine a fertility clinic implanting a woman who already had 6 children, who has no husband, who is on welfare, and who has 3 children of her children receiving disability. Fertility treatment is NOT cheap, did she put down in money up front? If she had that kind of money, how could she be on food stamps? There is so much to this story that is yet to be uncovered! Is she sleeping with the fertility doc or blackmailing him/her?

Regardless of how she managed to convince the fertility clinic she should be once again receive IVF, she is in no mental state to raise 14 children. Is she a pathological liar or just very manipulative? Food stamps are not welfare? Why DOES she consider to be welfare?

Wow, this story is getting more and more bizzare. First, there was the grandfather and that so called friend who said she has money and could afford to take care of her kids. Then the mother got on national TV and say she is not receiving welfare. Now it is proven that she is indeed receiving welfare. What's next?

Well apparently food stamps is no longer considered 'government aid' and neither is SSI. Last time I checked food stamps is a program funded by taxpayers dollars and administered through the government and SSI is also funded by the taxpayers and adminstered by the government. All free money she is using to live off the taxpayers of the state of California. Her college education is also being paid for by the taxpayers of California. She has a lot of nerve acting as if she is not living off of others. She is not only profitting off the taxpayers, and getting an education she is living off her children. She is also guaranteed on Medical for her and her childrens health care.........also paid for by the taxpayers of California. She I am sure also will not consider the money she will get from SSI for the low weight babies she has had living off the government either. This woman is the worst example of why the welfare system and the entitlement era no longer works. These programs were set up as temporary aid not to live off permanently..........unfortunately there are so many people just like her living off the rest of us. California needs to revamp welfare, and food stamps to limit the dollar amount as well as the timeframe she and others who live off it for years and years. Washington state did just that. The state was going broke paying women who lived off welfare and food stamps for their entire lives. They limit the dollar amount they give. Once you have three kids that is all the money you get........if you have more you better learn to stretch a buck. They also limit the timeframe to 2/1/2/1/1 and off. Meaning you can be on 2 years then you must be off for one full year before applying again. Then you can be on for another 2 years then must be off one year. Then you are allowed one last full year of benefits and then you are cut off. You get a total of 5 years period. So no more spending your entire adult life on welfare and then zipping off to social security.

People like this are breaking this country. This is why millions of people come here to squirt out their illegal children.........they get to live off the rest of us for free. Not to say that every illegal does this but the fact is they use the 14th amendment to have their kids be citizens........problem is that the amendment was meant for the children of slaves not every loser who can manage to sneak across the border and squirt their kid out on the hospitals dime(that is what happens......they have no social security # so the hospital can't put it on their credit report-the hospital eats the cost and it is passed on to those that pay the bills via higher medical fees).

I have 6 kids and it would be a cold day in hell before my house would ever look like that. This woman has been away for 2 months in the hospital, what exactly has this grandmother been doing, besides letting these kids run wild and sitting on her a$$, that this house got this bad in the first place? Funny how they didnt show pictures of the grandmother's room or the rest of the house! I bet that entire house is filthy! They live in California, they need to get ahold of that "Clean House" show and have someone come in there and clean that mess up. Kevin laments tax dollars - public resources - supporting children purposely born to a woman without the means to do so herself. I KNEW there had to be more to this story. She's a liar. She really has deep seated psychological issues and her children really need to be taken away from her and put in homes where they can get what they need. I'm not sure whether I should cry or be furious over this story. I am 35 years old and have been trying to get pregnant for years. My husband and I both have good jobs, work full time and have been saving our money for the last year and a half to pay for my upcoming IVF treatment. I don't understand where this woman, who is on disability and food stamps, got the money to pay for this procedure? The definition of the word bastard is "a child born out of wedlock". It is not a swear word when used in that context. At least 8 of her children were born out of wedlock, therefore the term does apply to them.

Half of Nadya's 6 kids are receiving disability payments. Wonder how many of the new ones will also receive payments. It was already mentioned that having octuplets born prematurely is likely to cause some of the kids to develop medical problems, which will preclude them from living a normal life. So she had all 8 implanted, knowing that some would probably have medical problems the rest of their lives (and the chances were increased since half the kids she already had medical problems), but that was OK since she could simply get more money from SSI.

I don't understand how anyone can have sympathy or even curiosity for this woman. I am pregnant with my first child and I lost my very good paying job this year due to the economic "crisis". My husband is supporting the both of us on his salary alone. We do not get public assistance or really any help from our families (other than the normal gifts for baby) because we live 600 miles away from our closest family members. My story is quite normal is this economic environment but this lady has gone far beyond any reasonable explanation for her actions. Feeding off the already broken system is disgusting and reprehensible. I hope her children are fine but I could give a rat's a** about her.

For the record, the President was born to Mr & Mrs Barack Obama, and was therefore not a "bastard." He was raised by a single mother after his parents divorced, but was by no means born out of wedlock as the term implies. Many children are however, born to women who are not married and are therefore, in the strict sense of the word bastards, however it is fairly outmoded in its use as single parenthood is more widely accepted. Giving birth to eight babies at the same time is not so much irresponsible as it is freaky. I can't help but compare the situation to a litter of puppies. Forgive me if I offend anyone but it's just kind of freaky and that maybe science is going too far here, I mean think about how much a female human body gives of itself to give one fetus all the nutrients and other things it needs to develop normally. It's alot of work and literally drains the mom and in some cases actually kills the mother. Twins and on very rare occasions, triplets are a NATURAL wonder and even then often times one of the babies of a multiple birth will have some medical issues due to the mother's inability to provide fully for more than one baby so I have a hard time understanding how one body can develop so many lives at once and there not be serious consequences for one or more of them and knowing this why would anyone in their right responsible mind want to put a child through it in the first place. What you don't understand and probably never will, is there are some of us that have never had any state assistance to raise our children. We didn't have children so the state could help us. It is one thing to have kids and take care of them to later on find ourselves in circumstances beyond our control and needing a little help, be it sickness or job loss at no fault of our own.

This woman does not have the slightest notion of what being a mother is. When you have children you love them no matter what they are. You don't burden them, and yourself, with more kids. That is selfish and it is cruel to the other children. You can't give 14 kids individual love and attention no matter how much of good health you are in or how "devoted" you are.

Three of the first ones are already disabled, probably mentally, something she forgot to "mention". I can't imagine what these eight other children will face now and when their older. If it's not physical it will most likely be psychological problems.

i am surprised the neonatal icu allowed her to touch those infants with those nails.  also, just a note , one of our recent newspapers reported last week that the amount of abuse/fraud in our state alone was $41-$43 million dollars per month. not per year per month.  i'm sure this proposed stimulus plan will give each state enough to cover this plus any other cost of this kind that arises.

One of the stories mentioned that she used a different doctor for the 8 than for the previous 6. I wonder if she showed up and left out some parts of the story, such as "I have 6 kids already". What if she said all of her past treatments had failed, then the clinic went out of business, her medical records were "lost", etc?

I live in a small town and a bank employee just got arrested for stealin at least 10,000.00 from our small town bank in the 3 years she worked there. My son has C.P. and the cost of his care is astronomical. That why I say the doctor should be held liable. He knew the risks involved in such a risky procedure and didnt care. But besides the financial burden theres also the many sleepless nights in a hosp room being there for the child. When they have a handicap like that sometimes they dont have the ability to express a need or want or anything so you have to be there to protect the one you love. This idiot doesnt even do that at home she lets her folks care for them. What is gonna happen god forbid something happen to her parents who will be there then , the one whos already proven shes not there now ? I raised two kids alone because dad was a deadbeat, Disneyland dad and it was tough. I hadn't been to college and needed help. I got it and finished college raised my kids who are healthy and successful and while I was getting assistance from Uncle Sam wrote an article about how easy it was to dupe the government agencies. My assistance lasted about six months and when I finally landed a job, I earned less money than I was getting on public assistance. Therein lies the problem. Don't make it (welfare)so appealing.

Nobody can deny that this woman has psychiatric problems.  She has blatantly lied several times over.  You can't tell me that food stamps and SSI isn't welfare.  It is public assistance.  Financial Aid is also welfare because of the context she is using it in.  Besides student loans, people need to realize that she is probably getting a ton of grants.   

No, you can't punish the children; they are unfortunate victims in this sick woman's fantasy.  However, the doctor that impregnated her was negligent to say the least.  This woman admits to taking a risk but she recklessly endangered innocent lives.  Elective reduction IS NOT MURDER under these circumstances.  We are not dogs; the human body was never designed to carry eight fetuses to term.  Are you saying that having eight severely compromised babies is better than having one healthy child?  Have you even seen these babies?  They are not healthy.  And nobody can deny the fact that spending the first few months of life in ICU (and being held by your mother for 45 minutes a day) is far from ideal.  There is a good chance that these children are going to have learning disabilities, behavioral problems, feeding problems, or worse.   

I think the whole point here is that octomom didn't have the best interest her children in mind from the outset.  What about the six children she already has?  Did you hear what her children had to say about this mess?  One girl said her mom was going to be stressed out all the time.  One of her boys said it's going to be "squishy" and there will be a lot of cribs all over the place and a lot of crying.  How sad. 

While everyone has the right to look pretty, how do you suppose this woman is going to change a diaper with those hideous nails?  That's not even practical or safe.  I could just see her gouging one of her babies with those suckers.  And if her lips really are natural, that must be one place she gained a few pounds.  It really does look like someone went crazy with the botox.  I mean, come on.  Even if she was born with such monstrosities for lips, what does it matter to you?  Are you that concerned about the salvation of people on this board?  Worry about yourself!     

colleen : all 8 babies are already on assistance. California has a healthy families program that is paying the costs of the babies hospital bills and they also have a program called ccs . CCS ... because of the premature and low birth weights and risk of learning disabilities .... these babies will start an early intervention program and go to school at a young age .. this is all state funded. It is not a hasty generalization that they will get assistance ... it is a fact. They are already getting some type of assistance. Nadya isn't paying the hospital bills.

I have 1 grown child, when he was small I couldn't support him without assistance for a few years. I wanted more children but instead had my tubes tied as it would have been unfair to have more when it's a battle supporting one. Welfare is supposed to be a helping hand so the person receiving it can improve their station in life. It is not meant to be a lifestyle.
