I was pregnant when we heard about the first death because of H1N1. Then the first death in the US, a pregnant woman.

Even though there is not a lot of data out there about the shot, I WILL GET THE SHOT ASAP. I'm glad the hurried to get shots done. I'm sure though that who ever really wants the shot will get it. If I wouldn't be pregnant I wouldn't care as much.

It's refreshing to actually see comments on the vine with substance. You are absolutely correct in your remarks and "kudo's" for citing the Cutter Labs Incident. I was a generation of school children who were lined up in the cafeteria at school and given oral salk polio vaccine. Now years later, there is evidence it probably caused the Rheumatic Fever I suffered three months later. The same Cutter Laboratories after being bought by Bayer, also produced large productions of unsafe Factor 7 products to treat hemophilia patients that was contaiminated with human blood plasma with HIV.

There was a dramatic rush to produce the H1N1 vaccine this year. Very little testing trials and a push to get it to market. I, for one, will not take it....under any circumstances. And for you COWTOWN, unless you are chronically ill, have a horribly weak immune system, don't know how to practice proper hand washing techniques, or otherwise are in a very high risk group, I'd think twice before getting this flu shot. H1N1 will definately reach epidemic proportions this year, there is no doubt about that, but the YOUNG are at the greatest risk. But there has not been enough time dedicated to a fomulary for this vaccine to make it as safe as it should be had there not been the rush to get it to market. I believe more people will become ill from the side-effects of the active virus to produce the antibodies than if they got the virus anyway.

When flu season comes around, we stock up on chicken for homemade soup, and the other essentials for preventing and dealing with it. We have never needed to go to the hospital. We have no insurance. (Besides, insurance is the biggest scam next to the banking industry.) Keep the head cool and the body warm. Let the fever do its job.

It's amazing what a hardened immune system can do! Too many people go to the ER for petty things. That's why health care is unattainable for those that want it. I'm not saying there aren't harmful things in the air we breathe, the water we drink or even some of the food we eat; however, do you know what's in this shot? Do you really? I doubt it very much. If you don't know that, how can you confidently say that this shot is less harmful than our general environment? Long story short... Proof please.

Long term... You might have a point. Short term... This shot has the potential to cause more damage or possibly even kill you faster than microbes in your drinking water.

I won't take this shot. I don't know about sweeping conspiracy theories and eugenics, but I do know the government has a tendency to make a royal cock up of most things these days, and I'm not trusting them with my health. Also, I do believe that there may be some mutual back scratching going on with these pharmaceutical companies and some aspects of government that put the actual safety of the public pretty low on their collective List's of Priorities. The clinical trials are much too short, and at least one of the companies producing this has an questionable safety track record.

As an aside, I personally have an autoimmune disorder which causes me to react atypically (as in, usually badly) to pretty much any vaccination I receive; which leads me to my next point...

We need to weigh the pros and cons on a personal level because there is risk either way. Personal health is complicated and highly subjective. I won't look down on anyone for getting this shot. I do rather raise my eyebrows at the people who lined their children up for the clinical trials but... That's me.

Well said Kaitlyn. I am one of those people that has become deathly ill AFTER receiving a flu shot - not once, but three times. Never again. Now I take care of my body and help my immune system do the job it was naturally designed to do, instead of counting on this kind of garbage to protect me from illness.

You DON'T need to trust the government with your health!! Go to you private doctor and get their expert opinion and advice before you make a decision. I suspect though that the vast majority of family and primary care doctors will reccomend this vaccine.

Just FYI...the H1N1 vaccine is being paid for completely by the U.S. Government this year. It will be supplied free to any office/clinic/immunization site who offers it. Along with sharps containers, syringes, and alcohol wipes...all paid for by the Government, Health and Human Services department. Your doctor will get his/her doses free also, but I'll bet when you show up for your injection, you'll still be charged for it!!! My guess is that the doctor's office will be more than willing to make you an appointment to come in, get something injected that cost them nothing, and then charge you or your insurance or both for the visit and the injection.

Yes Cowtown some of the flu vaccines still have Thimerisal in them. But you can request ones that do not have this additive. But the new Swine flu shot has an added agent that is supposedly for boosting the immune response to the dead virus in the shot.

All vaccines contain poisons like formaldehyde, aluminum, tin, mercury, body parts from monkeys, eggs, other viruses, etc, etc. In addition to the virus that is the focus of the vaccine. However, the swine flu vaccine contains squalene! Squalene is the cause of the Gulf War Syndrome. As you will read in this publication, the substantial majority (95%) of overtly ill deployed GWS patients had antibodies to squalene. All (100%) GWS patients immunized for service in Desert Shield/Desert Storm who did not deploy, but had the same signs and symptoms as those who did deploy, had antibodies to squalene. In contrast, none (0%) of the deployed Persian Gulf veterans not showing signs and symptoms of GWS have antibodies to squalene.

So now we intend to vaccinate all of our children, pregnant women, and health care workers with a squalene-containing vaccine like we did in the Gulf War? You can't compare total swine flu deaths with the annual flu deaths. The peak swine flu deaths probably won't be until Spring. So far these deaths have been off season.

As for the different viruses together, that can happen if an organism is infected with 2 or 3 similar viruses simultaneously. The cut DNA will float around and reattach itself to other floating DNA.

Once we sort this out we may be ready to go the next part of whether the vaccine does or does not contain these. By the way, you could lessen the 'misinformation' by providing the "real" ingredients list yourself.

This is not fear tactics, it's reality...Losing Freedom has it correct. The Goverment has contracted with four companies for the H1N1 vaccine production. GlaxoSmithKline, Novartis, Sanofi Pasteur, and MedImmune. Usually the process of even identification of the host cells take 2-3 months sent to the companies from the WHO (World Health Organization) and the CDC, but this was all accelerated this year. The drug companies are not even sure if the active Adjuctive (immune stimulator) ingredients will work or not yet. Trials suggest perhaps an acceleration of 10 days, when the usual seasonal flu vaccine takes 3 weeks or more. There is No Conspiracy Therory here....just common sense. Taking this vaccine is a risk and people SHOULD be aware of it.
