Way cool!
A friend of mine was in 'Nam and loved to tell the story of driving a jeep with his LT across a raised, one lane road, built through a large rice paddy. Some VC activity had been reported in the area, so both men were very alert. When they were near the center of the rice paddy, Ted noticed two young boys standing beside the road wide eyed and watching the GI's drive by.... He swears that he never had a conscious thought about what he did next, which was to jerk the jeep off the road and into the paddy. When the shocked (and soaked) LT started yelling at him, Ted simply pointed to the youngest boy who was still plugging both ears with his index fingers. Sure enough, about 30 yards up the road they found a freshly planted land mine. (Seems like Ted would have made an excellent gun figheter in the old west!)
