Obese mothers put newborns at greater risk for Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, diabetes, stroke, heart disease and other ills, new research suggests.
Mom's obesity puts kids at risk for host of ills

I think that biggest "risk" is that they pass their poor eating habits onto their kids.
Yea and mankind causes global warming and bigfoot lives in Beverly Hills and aliens visit the White House--when is this garbage going to stop. Environmentalism may be the new facism but this kind of medical "research" is even more of a threat to our civil liberties. You can bet that soon, overweight people will be charged with neglect if they get pregnant.
Hmmm, I see the nanny state is laying the ground to clamp down on obesity just like they did cigarettes.
Fat, unhealthy moms and dads = fat, unheatlty kids.
In other news, ducks quack, water is wet, and people need to breathe to live.
We are a country of fatties after all. We should be so proud...
And Neanderthals somehow manage to hit keys on a keyboard. Am I supposed to be impressed by this??
My husband has a low bmi and my kids are between 12&15 BMI... and I am overweight. Working on fixing it, but I'll do it my way not anyone else's!
The connection, overweight parent=automatic overweight child is not as simple as it is made to appear! We have to work to keep her from being too thin. How can I go crazy on a diet without it harming her????!!!!
Oops deleted important point in previous post- my daughter is quite thin....naturally! (So is my son, so is my husband- and we eat the same things).
Misdaffon;
Sling all the insults my way you want. I don't care. I'm used to the backlash from the obese. They are usually angry about what they are. They get angrier when someone else treats them like a smoker, or moder day leper.
Having family that lives in other countries I am absolutely embarrassed that the US has an "obesity epidemic" that affects both adults and children.
I am more embarrassed that people still try to blame the epidemic on a magic "fat gene" that seems to only affect humans in the US. Think about it, if this magic "fat gene" were real wouldn't it make sense that 60% of the population in every country on the planet would be obese like in the US?
