Experts say old age need not be marked by disease and disability. Older adults can take action, even well into their 60s and 70s, to reduce the risk of developing chronic disease and avoid injury.
How to grow old gracefully

Fact: medicare does not pay for any kind of preventative care or checkups. If you have high cholestrol or somethink like that you can get tested every 5 years. If you need more than that you have to pay for it yourself.
Not true!
I believe Pres. Obama's health package includes preventive medical expenses that has been ignored for many years. Why ? If you don't get sick, you will not see a doctor or need hospital care. Therefore, less income for doctors and hospitals. Does that sound logical ? Long time ago, I heard a lecture by Dr. Sabin. He said " We should die in good health." Dr. Sabin is just 50 years ahead of us.
My mother just recently died at the tender age of 96. She maintained good health until 9 months before her death when she took a fall which led to incapacitation. But really, she died of old age, still mentally very alert.
I think we can all do lots of things to keep ourselves in good shape vs. running off to doctors all the time.
Be careful about reporting correlations as cause & effect results. People who go to church regularly, for example, must already be in better general health than those unable to attend as much due to health limitations
People who struggle with chronic illness or disability are less likely to feel optimistic because many medical conditions cannot be cured or quieted by medications, except sometimes with drugs that carry the heavy burden of side effects.
This article spouts other "conclusions" that may NOT be directly due to cause-and-effect. Just because one situation exists does not mean it caused the other condition.
I agree. It's better to live in the real word instead of the fictitious one inhabited by these so-called experts. No matter how you slice it, old age is a time of losses and depression unless you are affluent. Money probably does cushion one from some of the losses but not even all of those, and certainly allows one to have better medical care. If you live long enough you become a burden to everybody. I hope I don't get much older than 75. To those who find old age enjoyable, good luck to you.
I started swimming seriously at the age of 63. One year later, I can swim a mile (36 laps), have lost many inches of fat, converting it into lean muscle, have lowered my blood pressure to 114/ 76, lowered my cholesterol, heart rate and blood sugar. I also try to walk two miles a day, weather permitting. My doctor is absolutely giddy about my physical turn around, as am I. Yes, you can change your health by doing what you are supposed to do, eat right, exercise, and get a good night's sleep. I am living proof that it is not too late.
I am approaching 69 years of age....not OLD, not young, and frankly am enjoying just about every minute of my life. What helps is this: I have good medical insurance (that I can afford only because I'm able to work part-time), so I get regular checkups; I have wonderful friends, am single (by choice, after my marriage of 27 years ended in the early 90's), have many interests and many things I enjoy doing. I don't know if I'll live a long life, but I'm in good health.....will it last, who knows? But, I'm grateful for every minute of every day that I can get out of bed and keep going!
A Mediterranean Diet? Super foods like dark chocolate, vinegar, and olive oil can and do help you stay heart healthy and stall the aging process. And yes, regular exercise is a must! If you participate in an activity that you love (i.e., swimming) it will boost your endorphins and you'll stick with it. Are these people NUTS? Seriously, why should most aging Americans worry about staying healthy when many might be living on the streets! You want to cut down stress, how about JOBS! And some real protection against age discrimination. I swear most of these doctors live on another planet.
I have type 2 diabetes and I don't see a doctor. Doctors are a money pit. You go in, pay for the Dr., then he sends you for tests, or to a specialist, which also costs money, and then followup, which also costs again. On a Social Security disability income of $870 a month, I couldn't afford to live if I went to Dr.s. In any case. my philosphy is that we don't live forever. As the poet (Tennyson) said, "...the old order changeth, yeilding place to new... We elders need to go instead of striving to appear younger and live longer, and leave the world to the young.
If you have diabetes and do not see a doctor, you are a ticking time bomb. Diabetes is nothing to mess with. I can think of far better ways to die.

I wish I had lived a healthier lifestyle – I hope it is not too late to make these changes. I am working on eating healthier and getting some exercise. I hope this can help me get back my energy and hopefully get back my function in the bedroom. As I aged I struggled and Viagra and the other magic pills have no impact on me – turns out I am part of a large group of guys who don’t respond. In the meantime my lovely wife is questioning her own attractiveness and appeal as she ages. We found https://postvac.com and purchased a penis pump. Now I can remind my wife how sexy I find her at any time. Maybe if I can stay on my new regime things will come back naturally and if not Pos-T-Vac and I will continue to help my wife age gracefully.
It's a pity people especially women worry so mcuh about losing their looks. We all lose them unless we are very lucky with age, and nothing brings them back. I find the idea of any kind of pump to continue doing what nature has decided you don't need anymore laughable.
Whatever you do do it gently, otherwise you will end up looking like the Joker. Staceyann C. Dolenti

You grow old with aches, pains, and wrinkles. Your libedo wanes and the age spots apear. There is no way to grow old gracefully or die peacefully. Old age is a time to reflect on all the mistakes you made from your first day on planet earth!
