At first I thought this was going to be more garbage like the anti tobacco groups used against Joe Camel. Lets face it, kids will recognize cool and fun logo's, images, and add campaigns. At 43 I still remember the adds for Shlitz malt liquor. I mean what could be more cool than watching a bull run through a bar, but it didnt make me want to drink the stuff.
This study does make you want to take another look though. While very small, it seems well run and thought out in its approach. I think this study needs to be done on a larger basis to see if the findings do hold up. While many will claim that it is the parents job to supervise their kids and their activities, no parent needs to have to fight a good tv add campaign. Adults should be well enough equipped to judge adds based on experience, children that young are easy prey for good marketing executives.
