They should be punished to the utmost extent. To knowingly continue to ship product for weeks that they knew was potentially contaminated is horrible.
Obviously the FDA needs more power to fix this type of blatant disregard for our health.
The personnel responsible for the decision to continue production should face criminal charges and be barred from employment is the food industry for life.
This is exactly why we need to have government regulation in industry. These people would kill us all - take our hard-earned money and give poisoned food- and never think twice about it.

It's stalled because of the food industry's lobbyists lining the pockets of the corrupt politicians in Washington. These people do not have your interests at heart...only re-election. Everyone sits on either side spewing BS and claiming they are the better party, but that sad thing is that there really aren't two parties any longer...just one. The party of GREED!
Beware, folks! All those chain restaurants advertising inexpensive but delicious meals where everyone is having a great time don't show you what happens to those people when they get home. You get what you pay for......and some people who don't stop to think are paying for illness.

See, if we weren't so broke from bailing out big banks that have been making the dollar worth progressively less each minute, allowed to do so by their partners in crime (politicians of both major stripes these days), our dollar would actually have enough value for us to pay a doctor bill (especially if the doctors were free from unreasonable litigation with forces higher malpractice rates) or buy REAL food instead of cheap component based food products, that are unhealthy enough when they aren't tainted.
Notice I am not blaming insurance companies, the only fiscally responsible corporate entities left... they were the only ones during the bank holidays of the depression era that actually paid out on time and in real currency and not IOUs that weren't worth the paper they were printed on. And they still are. I blame the lawyers (who as members of the judiciary should be excluded from serving in the legislative and executive branches... separation of powers don't ya know..)
But now the system finally has it's tool to kick the final stable financial pillar this country has out from under us... well... that's just heaven for some...
