I'm going to guess that someone had issues, after all, it is a paper clip! And when another dentist went in to fix it, or possibly even from the x-ray, found out that it was a paper clip. At that point, then you start digging, so to speak, and find others!
I've had several root canals and this just hurts me to even think about it!!
It is scary going to the dentist.. I thought I read somewhere that a dentist invented the electric chair......and now this paper clip business.. How shocking...
This just the tip of the Iceberg when it comes to Medicaid fraud. Billions of our tax $'s go into the pockets of people like this. Prosecute them to the max.
Glad this dentist got caught -- there are too many Medicaid/Medicare scamming doctors. As a taxpayer, makes me very angry when I hear about something like this. BUT, must say, surprised me, and also angered me as well to learn that dental coverage is included under Medicaid coverage! Had no idea taxpayers were taking care of that for them. I know many responsible people who struggle to make their medical care insurance premiums but have to forego dental insurance due to the added cost and generally very limited benefits for the price, and their dental care gets pushed aside and suffers because of it. Sorry, but don't think financially non-contributing members of society should get benefits that financially contributing members of society cannot afford, due in large part to the amount they have to pay in taxes towards the support of the non-contributing element of society.
Yeah Carla, just let the old poor peoples' teeth rot right out to the gums. To hell with their pain and suffering, especially disabled people. They don't pay taxes so screw 'em. And Carla, I would wager I pay more in taxes than your yearly gross. I hope and pray that my tax dollars are used to care for those who can't care for themselves, you selfish little cow.
Take his license for ever qand put him in jail for 50 years or the maximun is all is required he is a criminal ,I wonder how many others are doing the same thing until they get catch
While in the Air Force and stationed at Edwards AFB in 1962 an intern dentist did the same on me. He needed to repair a badly damaged tooth. He took a paper clip, cut it to about 1/4 inch in length and used it as a post and built a crown around it. I thought it was ingenious. To this day I have have it in my mouth.
Unless I'm underestimating the intense greed of dentists, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he used toothpicks instead of those terribly expensive paper clips!!
How did they find out that this dentist was doing this? This sounds really awful. It seems like those victimized are those who can least pay (medicaid). I have decent insurance and have had the same dentist for over 15 years.
The dentist who was doing my implants just closed up shop and disappeared. He had been out of the office for various periods of time and had another dentist covering for him from time to time. I had to find another dentist to finish the implants. I found out later from one of the dental assistants who had worked for him that he had been in and out of treatment for alcoholism. He was in danger of losing his licenses so he relocated to another state. Whenever you know about the people who are providing health care, they are like the rest of the population, some good, some bad, some have problems. Watch out for the doctors and dentists that the little ducks call, Quack, Quack, Quack.
They should put his ass in prison for a long, long time so he won't be able to practice anywhere else. But, more than likely, he will get a slap on the wrist.
What do you expect? It was a dentist, who invented the electric chair. Lets face it, anyone who picks a career looking in peoples mouths all day, can't be right in the head.
Root canals - what a ripoff. Our family dentist told my son and me within the space of two weeks that we both each needed a root canal. We got a second opinion and guess what? We didn't need a root canal.
I went to Canada and got better dental care there. I had a tooth filled, and he used a laser to clean it out; no needle and no drill. They were very nice and it was the most unstressful trip I've ever had going to a dentist. The waiting room even had a relaxing fireplace! I plan to go there again for dental work. They're more humane.
How did they find this out? Did the paper clip speak up and say "It looks like you're trying to do a root canal. I can help!" Creepy.

I'm glad he was found out and has been stopped!
Jeez. Going to the dentist is scary enough.
Could have been worst. He could have used staples.
Clippy!
Skills or education-even at a university level, and even in the medical fields does not in and of itself make someone a good or a nice person.
Macgyver would not approve.
I guess you could say this is a classic example of the term "clip joint."
That is crazy....
He was just practicing up for Obamacare. That is what we all will be getting substandard care. What a joke.
Ahhhh, thank you!! Only 4 comments in and it turns to politics! Good work!! (sarcasm)
Oh shut up, you idiot. Go somewhere to some wing nut, looney board and post away. This is about dental quackery. Sheesh.
miffed american...would you please just go away!!
Quack...quack...quack
This so-called dentist dude is a QUACK.
Wouldn't it be fun to paper clip a certain part of his anatomy permanently so he can't reproduce?

This is news? Mine used a coat hanger, some bubble gum and a chain saw when he did mine....at least that's what it felt like....

Wow Carla...that's very christian of you!!
Look at Carla's psycology, primarily she wrote what she wrote-because it made her feel good to basically say that she is the better person.
KPRO, I was going to say the same thing. Is he running a CLIP JOINT PLACE.
This Dentist must be in a bad way, so screw the people and the government. Throw him into prison now!!!!

I wonder what the price difference between the stainless steel and paper clips was? and what is the difference in the materials.
Paper clip material rusts.

The American Dental Association has not helped, they just let these things go on with no reprimands.
Oh man, I guess all of those people are going to have to have those things removed and have it redone. Ouch.
