For MS patients like myself, hope is hard to come by.  The chance to have MS arrested by a fairly simple (but not risk-free) surgery is irresistible.  There are very few down sides to this procedure compared to huge numbers of up sides. 

While the surgery will not remove disabilities already incurred by the MS, it will stop the MS from progressing.  What is not to like?

This is a minor surgery compared to the two surgeries to replace my hip because of an MS-related fall or the surgery to reconstruct my face after falling face-first on a tile floor.

If you were offered relief from a life of pain, fatigue, vision problems, coordination issues and cognitive deficiencies with a surgery that, so far, has caused no short-term or long-term problems, wouldn't you push to be first on the list at your local facility?  I know that I am pushing to be considered!  After thirty plus years of MS, I'm ready to be free of it!
