I totally concur, but I am sometimes at a loss to determine whether I have an allergy attack, or just a case of the common cold. Any idea of how to tell the difference ?
I agree, Headshaker. I don' t think I've ever seen it this bad in NC. My son can drive through the parking lot at his college and clouds of yellow pollen dust fog up. My red minivan looks orange--I told a friend it looked like I had been "mud bogging" in a minivan! Clumps of tree blooms have nearly obscured my newly sprouting hostas. Everyone I know is suffering from allergies. Hope it calms down soon!
I've never sneezed so much as I have been lately. That's about the only symptom I have but I sneeze at least 10 times a day and it's getting annoying. =P
I've had chronic allergies to spring pollen for 50 years. I've used pills and prescription steroid nasal sprays; they both worked a bit, but the steroid nasal spray caused me to lose my sense of taste while I was using the spray.
I quit using the pills and sprays a couple years ago when my doctor asked me to try sinus irrigation with salty water. I bought a "sinus rinse" plastic bottle at the pharmacy and packets of pH balanced salt; I fill the bottle with warm water, add the salt, shake, then I lean over the bathtub, and squirt the solution up into my sinus. It washes away the pollen and other gunk. I now rinse my sinus twice a day and my allergies have not returned, although after a long bike ride I need to rinse again because I breathe in all that pollen while biking. You can make your own salt solution with one cc of sea salt and one cc of baking soda in 8 ounces of water.
The salty sinus rinse works much better than the pharmaceuticals.
We should be seeing the pollen anyday now here in the northeast. Especially since it's been unseasonably warm here. So when I start to feel the eyes watering, sneezy, etc, I do however use a supplement called Aller-DMG. It has really been great for my spring allergies. I have used it for years. I get it online from Mountain Naturals of Vermont. I tell everyone I know about this stuff.
Here in TN we had the coldest winter since the mid 70s and now every thing is blooming at once - dogwood, hackberry, elm, bradford pears, willow, oak, you name it. Yellow pollen is everywhere while blossoms from the trees look like multi-colored snow flakes falling whenever the wind blows. Everyone I know is suffering.
to bad here in tenn. we have a flock of morons on meth, and low and behold you can only buy so many packs of medicine before they cut you off and the law meets you in the parking lot, so don't just get the 15 count package three four days later you cannot have any more, so you better buy the biggest supply you can, boy it sucks to have allergies and live in an absolutley retarded state. thanks for the help against our sinus conditions tenn. we really appreciate the care and concern you have for us folks that don't abuse drugs. stupid a-hole state, its not like the drug addicts won't give you a couple of bucks to go get them some sudafed, they don't have to buy it themselves, treating us all like meth heads is not the solution, its an attack on our character, plain and simple

It's bad here in NC. I think this is the first year I can remember seeing the air visibly yellow.

That just shows that there aren't enough female trees to take the tree sperm!

I think it was Obama and his socialist agenda that created it. (sarcasm)
I'm in SoFla and it's horrible. Everything is covered in pollen, even the furniture on my screened patio. I'd have to OD on my meds to feel better.
