I hope this news article is not a set up have more smokers take antidepressant drugs. These drugs are so dangerous and are unfortunately changing the very fabric of our society. One of the side effects of antidepressants and antipsychotics is a feeling of disassociation, not really 'being there' or being responsible. This s frightening considering the number of people taking these substances.
You can find out some interesting information from a couple of the expert organizations in the area, Ralph Nader's group, PublicCitizen.org and Citizen's Commission on Human Rights, CCHR.org.
Yes, I believe this smoking study is tied to the drug companies who make antidepressant and/or antipsychotic drugs. They are dangerous and anyone who's been told they must take or try them, take precaution.
I think the mantra is "drink more, take all the drugs you can, smoke if you want, live in ignorance, then get sick so the health care industry can bankrupt you"
I smoked for over 20 years, day I got my pick slip at work, I stopped cold turkey. Five years later (even though I got a new job shortly after my lay off), I still don't smoke and don't miss it at all. Never been a 'drinker' (rare rare occasion) and as far as drugs that'd be a nope to dope too!
I am a smoker and I have bipolar depression. I was just talking about how it seems to go hand in hand. I want to quit, and have gone as far as to try to get help, but medicare doesn't cover anything unless you have heart disease or something like that. So I am kinda stuck. I'm gonna try to quit again. cut down my smoking slowly over the next several weeks. I hope this is it, Jesus is on my side.
Duhhhhhhh, when has anybody seen a happy and jolly look on a smoker's face??? This article is so obvious, another obvious article would be "smoking cigarettes guarantees cancer" oh wait, my bad, that would never make news.....
Jeez, I remember when smokers smiled all the time, but that was before all of the self righteous "live your life the way I want you to" crowd were empowered. Now it is a lot more than smokers who are glum. Cigarette smokers catch the worst of it- but the health nazis have been encouraged legally to continue their campaign of butting into people's private habits and lifestyles. Even more, they now have the ability to pretty much dictate 'good and bad' according to their own standards by perverting statistics. They are pretty much being allowed to inflict their'religion' on everybody else because most people are too damned afraid or don't know when to tell someone to go fvck themselves sideways. On top of that they are allowed to ignore the fact that they themselves are smokers- daily pumping out a much more noxious mix of chemicals and fumes with their vehicles than any 'smoker' does with a cigarette, and possibly causing much more cancer because of their polluting and smog production. I recall reports in the news decades ago that talked about the health costs of vehicle pollution. It was a big subject until laws came out requiring catalytic converters and such, then they were allowed to believe the pollution problem was licked.
Now the influence of those creatures is affecting even the very foods you like to eat- like it is ANY of their business!!! You know how it is- everyone has to suffer because THEY can't control themselves or their kids and their diet, so the entire world needs to reform to accomodate their failings so they need not acknowledge that the problem is themselves. They make a movie about the bad health effects of fast food, but the subject of the film is a dedicated vegetarian who hasn't touched meat in decades and he super-sizes many of his meals. Since his body is lacking in the enzymes needed for digesting meat he gets very ill by the end of the month of his meat/fast food diet. What a huge piece of propaganda leading people to false conclusions!!! And so obviously false when one looks at it without paying attention to their accompanying babble! Yet I'm the only person I've ever even heard of calling 'bullsh/t!' on their propaganda piece. Instead the health nazis are empowered and they get Congress and state/local legislatures to pass laws regarding food and fat content etc...
I used to be offended when some would refer to the American people as 'sheeple', but nowadays I heartily concur with that label. The mix of piss poor education and lack of the ability of critical thought have put them into the situation little better than slavery, though an overall pleasant slavery if you don't mind giving up your free will to give someone else a feeling of superiority, accomplishment , and authority. Most couldn't produce an original thought if you gave them a month. Even worse, they're happy being told how to live by someone else because it takes any responsibility off their own hands. So much for the 'rugged individualism' we like to brag about.

How much did this study cost taxpayers? 60% of depressed don't smoke, does that mean non smokers should start smoking? Idiots!

Since a pack of cigarettes costs more than a six pack, no wonder they're depressed.
U.S. mantra "Drink more and take drugs; just don't smoke."
I think the mantra is "drink more, take all the drugs you can, smoke if you want, live in ignorance, then get sick so the health care industry can bankrupt you"
And 100% drink water. In other news....

Way to generalize...
