You got it! Any time I'm stressed, worn out, have gone through tragedy or have received great news, I take it to the local parks, or at least a late night walk through the neighborhood. There's no better way to either work through things or think through things or truly enjoy things.
I can't really put a finger on it, but it's healing as well as soothing. Perhaps it's because so much in everyday life removes us from our roots, from nature; building to building in cars, cement and asphalt, busy from wake to sleep.... I think for some, connecting with nature has become cutting the grass once a week.
A university tested the rapture response in the human brain. They placed a gauge that shows responses within the human mind on their test subjects. They traced the responses using photos of three categories. They showed photos to the humans being tested. The first, was a photo of some of the most beautiful architecture in the world; second was a photo of a man/landscaped park, and the third was a picture of virgin wilderness and wild things.
The architecture received the lowest joy response. Second, was the landscaped park, landscaping by man, but the wilderness scenes knocked the rapture response off the charts. Health advisers often say, getting out in nature is as good for the human mind as anti-depressants, and indigenous peoples do not suffer from depression according to recent research as they live their lives totally in the wild.
Many, often receive extraordinary emotions while in nature, and it is called the "oceanic" response, the feeling of being connected to the whole, one.
Best therapy for young and old.

You got it! When I'm stressed out, I can't wait to get home and outside in my yard and garden.
