For nearly two decades, Public Enemy No. 1 for the food industry and its government regulators has been a virulent strain of E. coli bacteria that has killed hundreds of people, sickened thousands and prompted the recall of millions of pounds of hamburger, spinach and other foods.

Watch foodInc!!!! Shocking! E coli doesn't even have to be an issue - except for the $$$$ of special interest groups and government subsidies to corn growers have created this problem…………seriously get educated, this movie is not some Al Gore – Michele Moore left slanted movie………… Watch it, then do your own research, and then you will be pissed and ready to fight for a change.
Then how do you explain that E. coli is being found in Organic produce like Earthbound Farms, as mentioned in the article?
Simple Crowny: The water that is used to irrigate produce esp. lettuce & spinach is contaminated with feces usually from cattle. And since it isn't meat & cooked to 160 degrees, it isn't killed!
I agree, Lucybfree, FoodInc. was eye opening! The government and private industry are motivated by money. That's the truth, sad as it is. We need to be proactive and protect ourselves. I have changed my eating habits, that's for sure.
"Deregulation" - who needs government intruding into our lives says the Republican Party. "We do." We need them to better regulate the safety of our foods, our medicines, our banks, Wall Street, worker's safety OSHA, worker's safety MSHA, oil drilling (Canada requires a safety well be drilled every time they drill, like most nations - BUT WE DO NOT!). "Deregulation" is why we are where we are. The Republicans had control for 8 years, they sold it and we bought it.
