I consider obese to be fat and nasty, full sized to be chubby but not nasty. Due to my body type I will never be "fit" to what some people consider. I have wide hips and a lot of muscle on my thighs. 140 is a number I will never see unless I turn into an anorexic or bolemic.

Actually, it's because of the AIDS stereotype from the 80's that many gay men work to counter-act the 'frail, decrepit, half in the grave' stereotype from the 80's. Having lived in Lambertville, NJ (opposite of New Hope, PA) for 3 years, it doesn't take a genius to conclude that middle-aged lesbians are, for the most part, overweight and butch to the extreme.

I think they put on weight to make themselves look more manly, similar to how most of them lower their voices and furrow their brows when they speak. That's not hate, that's a fact. Go spend a weekend there walking around town.

Could it be that the obesity-ridden Bible Belt states, where people are more likely to be shunned for "choosing" to be gay, are driving up the average weight for heterosexuals because homosexuality would be underreported there?

i have to agree. i think that the trend tends to maybe single people? i know when i was single i actually tried to stay thin. i have been with my partner for over 11 years and while i do like to look attractive to him, we have been together long enough that i don't feel like me getting a "little belly" is going to repulse him.

come on now...having been a college student myself, thesis studies and research are key to obtaining your degrees....I am thankful that there are more studies focused on the gay community. The more recognition the better....

In biology we see homosexual tendencies all the time. Before medical school, I studied biology and biochemistry. Biologists have known for years that homosexuality is very common in the animal world. Unfortunately, this is why you don't hear much about it from us. It's so common, we have other things that are inherently more important to study. The only time it becomes an issue is when you inject cultural, religious and social values into something that is innately biological (i.e. not [usually] controlled by choice).

Of the studies on animals by biologists, you will find that many, many animals practice homosexuality and that, of those that practice pair bonding (monogamy), they will stay with that same sex partner ad mortem. Of the same sex animal partnerships that adopt babies, in zoos or in the wild, you will find the are NO differences between their adopted offspring and the norm of the heterosexual population.

However, if you want to get into other reasons about gays and gay parenting: what about the fact they they, on average, earn more than heterosexuals? That, perhaps, because they are often denied the right to parent by heterosexuals, when presented with the opportunity, they may tend to make better parents because they desire to try harder (perhaps a subconscious form of seeking approval from people like you [e.g. bigoted, narrow-minded, uneducated, people]).

All of this begs the question: why would your god create gay animals (not just humans). What about other animals and lifeforms which are asexual, hermaphroditic, etc? We really aren't so different from them. Of course, this is all probably far too much for your mind to handle. Us scientists, doctors, philosophers and professors are practicing the dark arts and can't be trusted.

See post #14.14 . Biological studies fully support the conclusion that homosexuality is practiced across all spectra of the animal kingdom. You need only to look it up. I recommend you start with Biology - 8th Edition (Campbell & Reece). From there, you should be able to understand any of the pertinent research you should Google about this topic.

Actually, I agree with most of what you've said completely. In this country, if you're a sensitive male, they label you gay. And that's wrong. We need to stop labeling people as gay/straight based on what they like to do, how they act and how they look. But I do have to take issue with the "don't go to church" part since there are gays who do attend church. And there are many straight people who don't.
