OK, the government will never be able to stop food contamination, and their methods are robbing the consumer of freedom to choose local, homegrown, organic options. Stop the import of foods from third world countries, where pollution is rampant and hygiene is extremely questionable. To 'protect' by way of spraying foods with poisons, and genetically modifying foods is NOT the answer!! Buyer beware: know where your food originates, and buy local and organic as much as possible. Insist that your grocer do likewise, or at least buy local.
FDA keep your nose out of what I choose to eat. I do not care for your dictatorship control. You are worth less then the GMO you tout as being safe. Get back to naturally grown.
The FDA is already bigger than it should be. The last thing in the world they need is a bigger budget.
There is nothing wrong with the FDA taking a reactive role in preventing unsafe food. Considering the size of the food industry, that is about the only realistic way you are going to deter unsafe practices without creating a veritable army of health inspectors.
Deterrence works. The next time some company causes an outbreak of foodborne illness because they were too cheap to hire enough people to keep their factory clean they should be fined enough money that everybody else in the industry thinks twice about skimping on labor and training. Some jail time for corporate officers wouldn't hurt anything either.
stop eating convenience food people!
