I thought, like in hospitals, that acupuncturists were supposed to use new, clean needles with each person? He obviously needs to lose his business license for negligence and spreading HIV to others. Yet another reason why I won't get acunpucture besides the fact that it looks too painful and I HATE needles!
1. Acupuncture does not hurt and is 100% safe. It has helped my back immensely.
2. This man's gross negligence or intent is not representative of the rest of the acupuncture field.
3. In the U.S. (at least) acupuncture is subject to FDA regulations that require the use of new individually sealed sterilized needles for each person. They are inexpensive and there would be no reason why anyone would be confused about whether they were used or not. I would imagine a similar set of laws governs in Switzerland, so if these allegations are true then there would seem to be some sort of intent involved which could have just as easily happened in a hospital environment or tattoo parlor. Sometimes there are just bad people in the world.
4. If you are still concerned, ask your acupuncturist to unwrap each needle in front of you which they would most likely do anyway right before inserting.
FYI: Acupuncturists in the U.S. are regulated, AND we use one new and sterile needle from a bubble pack for every new point on each person. Needles are never even reused on ONE patient let alone between two patients. This only can happen if done intentionally...NEVER accidentally. It's impossible.
They've been investigating the spread of HIV for 5 years, and are going to wait another year to decide if their going to do anything about it? Some people really are idiots.
If someone did this to me, I would personally make certain that they "go" first, slowly and painfully - end.

It's going to take a YEAR to decide? That's 15 people who have a death sentence that this guy gave them.
Robert-Being HIV positive is not a death sentence.
