Duh. You would think that by now companies would be more aware of safety issues with their products. Whoever is supposed to check these things in new products is obviously incompetent.
couldn't agree more. Why as a society we are so focused on the happenings of a single incident. Maybe these parents need to watch their kid better. I am glad Ikea responded to this but seriously, it's not ikea's fault this child was not watched carefully. Why not focus on the bigger issues like poverty and diseases instead of petty whodunitisstupid remarks.
I'm waiting for the day when parents stop blaming companies for their mistakes in parenting. You have a small child... then either don't buy blinds or...hmmm WATCH AFTER YOUR FREAKING KIDS!
I agree, need to ban all sheets on beds then cause if a child rolls themselves up in the sheet the wrong way its possible they might strangle themselves........ also ban jumpropes, kids can strangle themselves with them too......How about banning stupid people from having kids?
EXACTLY to both. And I'm all for banning stupid people from having kids/requiring people to take an intelligence test in order to have them...but then all the whiners would say "can't do that, that's playing god"...yeah, yet of course, we drop sacks of food on impoverished nations that can't get their act together instead of letting natural selection do its job....yeah, there's no "god playing" by doing that apparently....and no "god playing" in recalling countless objects just because some incompetent 'parent' couldn't keep an eye on their kids either ;)
Lets see 3.4 million blinds out there an one kid has a close call because the parents weren't watching them so we take about $17 million dollars worth of products back. When are we going to ban bicycles and steps. How many kids have gotten hurt on them or even killed? Seems pretty ridiculous. Watch your kids!
It's amazing how inattentive parents are. So, do people that have no kids in the house have to return their blinds? Also ban backyard pools, I just heard on the news that a toddler had a close call.
Bad things shall happen and you can't prevent them all. So why are we recalling things that work perfectly? I mean come on, we are not dealing with defective products. This is clearly just a freak accident or defective parents.

Really? One child? That caused all this? That is silly.
I would bet more kids die messing with car radios causing wrecks. Lets recall all radios and make them only work when parked.
Parents do your job. Stop attacking companys.
@ Tired of silly

looks like the rest of you have pretty much covered parent stupidity here. I'll let you continue with out comment.
Thanks to lawyers it is cheaper to recall millions of blinds than to take the chance on a lawsuit.
Agree with Mandie, watch your kids!
