The american physiciancs attitude towards pain management is one of, "Hey, that's your problem not mine" and patients are offered nothing more than an assortment of "safe" medications that turn them into complete idiots, unable to function in society. This ensures that some people will always be willing to take any risk. The American medical system is so completely messed up that it is no wonder some try to find ways around it. unfortunately they exert almost complete control, choosing with no personal consequences which people will get good care and which will be hung out to dry.
