Abortion is legal in the USA. Hence, there is no reason to pretend that this new drug is a contraceptive (preventing conception) rather than an abortifacient (preventing a fertilized egg from successfully implanting in the uterus, or expelling it after it implants). We could all use a little more truth in advertising. It used to be that honesty was the best policy.
I wouldn't call keeping a fertilized egg from implanting an abortion. If that were the case then thousands of abortions happen in fertility clinics when they discard unused embryos.
Stopping an egg from implanting isn't aborting. You have to be pregnant to have an abortion - you are not pregnant until the egg implants.
Honesty is the best policy - you can't abort if you aren't pregnant.
The "morning after" pill is no more an abortifacient than the hormonal birth control I and millions of other women take is. Existing pregnancies, i.e., a fertilized embryo that's already implanted, are unaffected by neither The Pill nor the "morning after" pill. Do the research and discover what's "honest" yourself if it's so important to you. But while you do that, I also urge you to take an "honest" look at why the hourly goings-on within the uteruses of millions of women who have nothing to do with you concerns you at all.

My feeling toward the Jesus geeks are the same as the stout devout Catholics when I was growing up. You want all these kids....here they are..you raise them and pay for them. Drop them on their doorsteps and let them own them in their ideal world.

I agree. If this is one more reason those procedures remain rare enough that no further intervention is necessary, and they stay available for those few cases where they're really needed, this is a terrific development for everyone.
