Very interesting. CF is such a nasty disease - I hope that researchers are better able to understand it, develop better treatments for it, and, one day, a cure for it.

I remember when my youngest son as being tested for CF - it as a horrible waiting game. His sweat test came back borderline, so they proceeded with genetic testing (him, my ex-husband and I were all ran through the genetic testing) for CF and testing for primary immune deficiency. After 6 weeks, the results came back - all three of us are carriers for CF, and our son does have a primary immune deficiency (though not a serious one). It was awful having to wait - but, fortunately, we got relatively good news.

Major strides have been made in diagnosing and treating CF. I had a 40-year-old patient a few years ago who was diagnosed as a child. Forty years old! Incredible. Now, a delayed form is being recognized. Genetic diseases are so baffling. The lady in the article has a strong will to place her health in top priority.
