A year after a new law put tobacco regulation in the hands of the Food and Drug Administration, one thing is clear: It will likely be years before any of the most aggressive steps to reduce deaths from smoking might happen.
FDA slow to rule on tobacco regulation

I wonder how much big tobacco paid politicians for the delays?
I'm sure it was substantial, cball. That's what usually holds up these types of Bills.
Lowering the nicotene is a 'small' start in the right direction, however.
You morons, FDA.
Restricting the nicotine is just another form of "prohibition"
All this will generate is another "black market" for "full strength" cigarettes.
So now we will hand the drug cartels yet another product they can import and distribute in the U.S. untaxed.
You morons, FDA.
Given the opportunity to enact real public health improvements, the government is really showing its true colors. The only entities to lose more money than the government will be the tobacco companies themselves. Don't look for anything too substantive to happen, it will take away too many tax dollars. That is truly why we don't have any effective government oversight of the tobacco industry.
Limiting tobacco consumption is the wrong approach. Increase nicotine levels.
Look at the upside instead. It gets people off Social Secutity sooner. Just limit health care payouts under HCR (revision xx) to exclude negative health personal choices. We all know what those are.
Try this approch on Alcohol Lower the Alcohol levels Ban ads during Sports no outside ADS
More people will suffer from Alcohol Abuse than cigarettes
I don't remember my Father or Mother ever beating us while smoking but once the drinks started Watch out get out of the way
Cigarettes are LONG term health hazard ALCOHOL is Short term
If we use the same Anti Commercial on Alcohol as we do on Cigarettes
Smoking cigarettes will NOT get me into a car accident Drinking will
How about putting Body Bags in front of Coors A/B Millers And saying your product kills
How about sueing them for Billions in the health and civic cost of their product?
More High School/College Kids go to a party Not because there are Cigarette there But because there is Alcohol there More Parents will lose their kids to alcohol than to cigarettes /Tobacco
just leave my electronic cigs alone and I don't care what you do to tobacco
...But then I'll have to buy more cigarette's! Are the tobacco companies paying for you to say that?
LoL, I agree. We'll just smoke more of them.
How about insurance companies pay for stop smoking programs (you get one shot, then if you start smoking again...tough luck).
Michelle-I agree...I've been on mine for 10 months. What brand are you vaping? I use Smart Smoke.
Vapor king/vapor 4 life.....great customer service and no where near as pricey as some I've seen
no analogs for months now...don't even think about them
Wow-congratulations. I can't believe I gave up smokes after 45 years of puffing my life away. E-Cigs are the best way to go as far as I'm concerned. I also get very good customer svc. from the people I get mine from. The warranty, the pricing....and the health differences...can't beat 'em.
I love the fact I am not hurting anyone else also....can't beat the no mess or smell part either...52 in 8 weeks was a smoker since early teens, tried gum, patches, hypnosis, acupuncture cold turkey this is the only thing that has worked!
Cold Turkey was out of the question....tried the patch (but couldn't keep it lit :>)
oh that is too funny ;)
HMMM what kills more teens in cars, guns or the people that try and run others lives. Make something illegal and people will run to it in droves.
Keep me alive longer for what, to pay more taxes to NYS for nothing ?
Jim
