Kellogg Co. is voluntarily recalling about 28 million boxes of Apple Jacks, Corn Pops, Froot Loops and Honey Smacks cereals, saying a "waxy" smell and flavor coming from the package liners could make people sick, the company said Friday.
Kellogg recalls 4 cereals for odor, off flavor

If Kellogg didn't dominate the cereal market, I would suspect a sabotage; terrorism possibly. The small pox blankets of today.
Maybe it got contaminated by Shrek's ear wax? General Mills make a Shrek's (Not Donkey's) cereal and Nestle made Shrek 2 Mud and Worms cereal before Kellogg made theirs. Perhaps sabotage?

they want tell u that the boxes were made. CHINA?
my first thought exactly. Boxes and box liner made in China.
I have also noticed the horrible smell that plastic storage boxes (including those used for food) give out. I'm sure that even if the products are made in the USA the materials come from China.
If made in China, then probably by an American company operating in China.
You probably got that right. No telling what is being outsourced in China, the liners in the boxes most likely. After China's melamine-in-the-milk scandal, who would want anything food-related to be manufactured there?
First the bleepin chinese sell us contaminated food products and now we can't even trust American companies? Ok everybody, back to victory gardens and home canning.....if you don't want to be poisoned.
yuk! who eats this sugar loaded crap anyway??????
LOL, seriously. The package liner is probably healthier than the cereal. Though I do like me some Sugar Smacks.
OK, who farted this time (in the production area) ?
Maybe if they went back to putting the cereal back in wax paper and not plastic .It wouldn't have a smell.I always thought plastic smelled strange any way.THey need to go back to old fashion wax paper. At least wax paper is easier to open the that plastic bags.I hate when I try to open the cereal in plastic it's hard to open and rips apart .,when I do open up the bags.
THIS HAPPENED TO ME ! ! !
I was in Peru last year and ate cereal that made me sick. I felt like I was on drugs or something. I dont know which of the below listed made me sick, but if you are ever in Peru, please do not eat them:
1. RAINBOW INCAS FUDGEPACKIN' REVENGE (Chocolate drops)
2. COCA-PEBBLES
3. COCA - CRISP
4. WHITE - ROCKS WILD WAFERS
Economykiller - I don't think it is. The only term that comes up in Google links back to this post.
Aaaaaaaaaand nevermind. *reads posts below this one*
Okay, who pissed in the Corn Flakes?!
There Grrrreeeaat!! Do I sense another Tiger scandal?
too funny
Does anyone notice we are not told where the cereal is produced. The box doesn't state any information also. I think all produces of food products tell you where it was made (not boxed, and not distributed) So may of the common food products I grew up with taste like crap now, wonder why?
only Kellogs has the info on source of "SOME" of its product. Hopefully it has no GMO in its product. GMO is bad mmmmmkk?
There iis mostlikly GMO in every cereal on the shelves.
I concur! Imported foods and food containers are not made under the same standards as foods and food packaging in the US. I try my best to always make sure I buy American grown (and as often a possible), locally grown foods.
I also like glass containers. Though it is true that glass requires more care than plastic, glass does not offgas chemicals, smells, waxes of anything else. It is also sterilizable.
Prayers for those who were made ill and prayers for the company that they get the message and only buy, use and sell American!
New from Kelloggs.....Stinky Pops, Very Berry Smelly scary and Wax attacks! Collect the whole set!
i wonder what other cereals are dangerous. now that kids stay home for summer, we will have to stay away from cereal.
Huh, I thought the odor and off flavor was the newest prize inside the cereal box...
thought those fruit loops smelled funny, but then again so does farts.
Ok ...Pleasel listen, this maybe nothing ...but I just bought all 4 of those cereals last week at Safeway for a unbeleivable price..(I usually buy generic).. and now a recall???? I wonder If they knew and tried to off the product at a discount then got cought by consumers????
no problem. you'll pay for this...
This is a common smell from GMO (genetically modified organism) cereals that have past their 'Best Before Date" - I read they can also cause cancer. Farmers seem to hate the GMO seed too.
oh great! Cancer from Apple Jacks! Wonnnnnnderful!
This is not the Coast To Coast message board, try posting your weird conspiracy stuff there.
I knew I wasn't crazy! My beloved AppleJacks made me so sick that I couldn't leave my bathroom for 2 days! Sat on the toilet, doubled over, with a garbage can between my legs!
I don't think I will ever eat AppleJacks again. EVER!
Yummy, Maybe the wax will form a lining on my breast implants. Making them more structured and they will last a lot longer than 10 years. OMG, Kelloggs you have made my day and quite possibly a few more years!
Quality Control? Lets feed it to the consumers and see if anybody gets sick.
go figure i decide splurge my kids and get them boxed cereal and the crap gets recalled guess i'm going back to bags
Probably made in China and distributed in the U.S. The long ride in the musky ship hold will do it every time.
Thank you for the wonderful topic
