I'm sick of public officials trying to protect people from themselves. Stuff happens- that's life. You can't protect people from themselves, but you can take away their fun and give them less things to do. Excuse me while I hang myself with my security blanket.
It says what, 185k people showed up? And one girl died. Sounds like pretty damn good odds to me. I agree with Bryan, you can't forcefully protect everyone!
Yes, California let legalize drugs. This is a good reason why marijuana should not be legalized in California, marijuana is a gateway drug into harder drugs. I don't want to hear about alcholo being legal, it is and thats that. I don't know why people were even being let in if they were intoxicated. The security at this even must of been non-existant. Now a family has to greif over the lost of their daughter and for what, just to have a good time at a event that everyone knows from the top up that drug and alcholo use would be abused.
really? do you have any scientific evidence to back up your claim that marijuana is a "gateway" drug? Or did Nancy Reagan tell you that? I mean, clearly cigarettes, caffeine, junk food and alcohol are harmless and don't lead to anything right? I mean, marijuana must be bad because people giggle and eat a whole bag of doritos while "high". Maybe we should just ban all of those things. And while we're at it, let's ban junk food too, since it makes you fat and get diabetes. Maybe we should stop driving because so many people die every year from car accidents. How about this, you let ME decide what I want to put in my body, and get off your moral high horse. When will people wake up and realize that marijuana isn't bad? Have you ever even researched why Marijuana was made illegal in the first place? Hint. It wasn't because it's "bad". Oh, and her parents were retarded for letting their 15 year old daughter go to rave in the first place. So, according to your logic, due to some bad parenting I shouldnt be allowed to smoke a joint in my home?
Until marijuana is legalized it will be a "gateway" to other drugs because the drug dealers are the real "gateway" who are going to try to sell a higher profit drug and potentially more dangerous drugs. Legalizing marijuana eliminates the "gateway". I am absoluteyly sure she did not overdose from marijuana as there is no evidence marijuana has ever killed anyone. Your point about the lax security is well taken and should have been much more diligent especially in a venue such as this. Condolences to the family nevertheless.
It was more than just the teen who OD'd and died. When you have noise complaints coming as far away as ten miles, that infringes on the rights of people in the vicinity. People were getting out of hand to the point that even the band was asking them to chill when then started collapsing the fences, not wishing to see kids injured. You have most likely heard or seen stories of what happens to property after sports fans get all hopped up when their team wins or loses. Luckily as far as I know, no property or business ended up on the losing end.....this time. Something of this magnitude should be held like so many raves in the past have been held, the Mojave desert. There is a lot more room to accommodate large crowds and many pitch tents and spend the night knowing it was unsafe for them to drive home plus they could continue to party throughout the night.
OK GUYS you wanna know what happened? first the dumb girl wanted to be a "cool" 15 year old and so was doing drugs at a RAVE! What kind of drugs? I'm betting my life savings that it was extacy for sure mixed w/ some other drugs. The girls parents FAILED. Now don't get me wrong i'm mostly bagging on her for doing this @!$%# when she's a 15 year old. Extacy is really no big deal when used responsibly and sparingly. But like any other drug, not too smart to use when your a damn 15 year old chick that wants to act all grown up and hot and cool. If she knew what was good for her, she would let her brain develop first and then party for real as a college student.
Marijuana is also the most harmless drug out there, get your facts straight and ignore the monkey science from the 50's...
I hate to tell you but booze is a drug and booze IS THE GATEWAY DRUG. Kids start on alcohol more than anything else including pot. There are thousands killed from DUI crashes but pot you don't see much there. And by the way why didn't the parents know where she was? Raves are always known for hard partying. Never been to one but all you read about are pretty crazy.
Don't ruin the event for thousands of people because a few decide to make a stupid decision. She died, people die everyday in car accidents. Let's ban automobiles too, just to be safe.
Its LA..what you expect from that area?
