I would gladly give myself to scientific experimentation involving mixing my genes with animal, on a large scale, so as to maybe change my appearance or phycal traits, or even put my brain in an animals body, and sign anything giving permission and knowing full well i might die or whatever other consequences, on ONE condition; the animal i'm mixxed with has to be approved by me; i wouldn't want to be mixed with a pig or a monkey or something, most prefferably i'd want to be spliced with a rabbit, cat, any big cat like a tiger lion leopard etc., and maybe dog or mouse
The whole concept of injecting animal cells into the brain of humans, or vice versa, to me, is both sickening and disgusting. I would never participate in such a bizarre experiment. god created humans in his own image and likeness. Likewise, he created animals to be different than humans. To try to mix the two, just to see what effect it would have is macabre, to say the least. Laws should be passed to prevent such hideous, and morbid experiments.
Scientists could care less about god. their field of work require them to have proven facts if they want to get any work done. most scientists believed god is ET, yoda, the little green man from mars, jabba the hut and mr spock. The scientists are just trying to create the perfect human being. what's wrong with that? That mean no ailment and able to live twice as long, no more glasses, disease free, more intelligent with a larger brain, able to read mind, ESP, able to smell things from afar, eyesight that can see in the dark, hearing so acute that you can hear another person farted miles away and with a tastebud that you can eat everything without getting fat........oops! i see alot of fat people out there are smiling right now. anyway, these scientists are thinking about life in the distance future while your thinking had been flatline since birth. they're trying to creat the perfect human being. progress is a good thing.
In time it well more than likely become clear that man created god in his on image.

When we start creating these super beings, mixed between animal & human. A human with the strength of a gorilla but the stealth of a leopard coupled with the lethality of a cobra, which commits a crime because "it" feels compelled to do so. Who will stop it? Who will find it? A detective will get to the crime scene and will not be able to look for the common human traces that lead to an arrest. What if this/these human/beasts decide that regular humans are no longer superior to them?
Makes good tv but no matter how much genetic manipulation you do the laws of physics still apply. A gorilla is strong cause it is big and chunky , a leopard is stealthy because it is long and sleek. There is no animal more lethal than human.
Probably the same thing that happen to most the animals on this planet due to Man reaching that same conclusion.

I think it's an interesting concept, harvinesting sheep organs for future use on humans, I dont' think its a bad idea but we all know it isn't going to end there, depending on who is giving out the grants for this work.There are philanthropists out there who give large sums of money to experiment on human cloning, they even have their own facilities, neurological centers etc. and were part of eugneics not so long ago, I'd hate to see anything to do with mixing humans with animals, they might already have tried it for all we know. Bear in mind the rich hate the thought of dying, they have more to lose than the rest of us, they dont' want to stop engineering the world and they certainly don't want to leave their money behind.
in the near future...we all will be perfect...smarter..disease free...no more overweight...stronger...faster...our brain will have twice the size...we'll have six senses....esp...mind reading....photographic memories....excellent eyesight.... all men will have a standard 12 inch penis and women with a beautiful hardbody.......the perfect human.

Alot of therapies for cancer and other diseases already involve injecting human cells and other genetic material into mice, rabbits, goats, etc. Hybridomas are created, antibodies/antigens are harvested, so on and so on. This has been going on for a decades. Its nothing new.

If you read the article, you'd have seen the part about needing human cells in many of the organs to test drug interactions with human cells. Now, they can't test risky things on people, and even though I'm not too keen on them doing so to these animals, in the end, it could be of great benefit to our species. But don't worry, even if you one day benefit from something that comes from this, you can continue to mindlessly and dutifully oppose it.
If the purpose is for organ transplant as they say, why the brain? Unless, of course, they are planning to transplant brains. Then again, they could be just lying through their teeth.

"God" is a myth. Once man quit worshiping nature because they believed they were above it that is when god was created.

everyone is worried about what it means to have an animal with a human brain and what the ethical implications of that research are. hmmm. well, if you just treated the other animals with the same dignity and respect you treat the bald monkey with then you wouldn't have to worry about this question at all. A. you would already have answered any and all ethical questions because you were willing to apply the same rules to other animals as people, and B. you wouldn't be doing experimental research on them in the first place because you treat them with dignity and respect. Of course all the diabetic people would die, and we'd never get anywhere with real stem cell research, and it would feel like 1910 after a while when you went to a hospital, but hey, it's still a valid point. Who cares what genome it's neurons use, it's a living breathing higher functioning animal-just like you. Accept that you need to torture, kill, and disect many many many higher functioning animals-just like you, and the sky is the limit when it comes to curing disease. But the discovering of disease cures is ALWAYS an activity that benefits the whole, at the necessary expense of the individual. It protects the flock, but demands sacrifices from said flock.
This is evil and wrong. Why are we becoming so evil as a race of people? Yes, I want to cure disease and help those waiting on transplants-but the utter disregard for life on this planet is sickening. This breaks my heart.
Although the deaths of the animals is regretable, I see no evil in this. Evil implies that they are doing this for evils sake, or some other nefarious purpose. It seems obvious to me that the underlying motivation here is to help people down the road somewhere. If you can think of a better way to conduct this type of research, then by all means enlighten us.

All I can see here is animal torture and a bunch of Scientific Idiots trying to play God without a clue as to what they are actually doing and hoping that they find some answers to the things that they did do!
well obviously they dont do research by letting these animals escape, and its clear that what you mean by "without a clue as to what they are actually doing" is YOU don't actually have a clue as to what they are doing (in terms of actual specific research and work) nor do you know anything into the background that their work is based on, which spans decades of research, this research is then based in hundreds of years of medical science and other research....
the reason why these people are doing what they are doing is because they specialise in this and have poured much work into the advancement of the quality of life, so has many poeple, scientists that have done the same in the past, and have either had to cover up their work or suffer slander from the common man who understands nothing of what they are doing.
Luckily, there is no god, so there is nothing to worry about.

Well, whenever someone gets a biopsy and they sign the release form, usually in the fine print it mentions that the facility can dispose of the cells in whatever means it sees fit. This can include using the biopsied cells in research, which is probably where some of these cells came from if I had to guess.
People are also donating these thing because they understand the benefits of this type of research.
