I hope school districts take this information seriously.
Every time it has been suggested in our district the opposition squashes it in about ten minutes. I like that the high school dismissal time in this study didn't change because in our school district that's a huge reason for not giving it a try. Parents want the older kids home to babysit when the younger ones arrive and sports teams from rival schools won't wait for later dismissals. Transportation is also a huge issue with a later start time interfering with bussing needs of other schools in the district. But the bottom line is that a later start time benefits the education of the students and isn't that what matters most?
