Law enforcement has more important responsibilities than arresting almost one million individuals a year for marijuana possession. Marijuana arrests wastes jail space, clogs up court systems, and diverts time of police, attorneys, judges, and corrections officials away from violent crime, the sexual abuse of children, and terrorism. Also, taxing marijuana can provide a much needed and generous funding to many important criminal justice and social programs. Marijuana is not a lethal drug and is safer than alcohol. It is not nearly as addictive as alcohol or tobacco. It is unfair and unjust to treat marijuana users more harshly under the law than users of alcohol or tobacco. The illegality of marijuana makes it more valuable than if it were legal, providing opportunities for teenagers to make ease money selling it to their friends. If the excessive profits for marijuana sales were ended through legalization there would be less incentive for teens to see it to one another. Teenage use of alcohol and tobacco remain serious public health problems even though those drugs are legal for adults, however, the availability of alcohol and tobacco is not made even more widespread by providing kids with economic incentives to sell either one to their friends and/or peers.

Over the 4th of July I was watching a show about the founding fathers of America, and it was mentioned how they all grew it, and almost certainly all smoked it... Washington, Jefferson, Ben Franklin, etc... Jefferson even traveled to other countries to get stronger seeds! A very close friend of mine (in NY where medical marajuana is still illegal) has Lupus, and a few other debilitating illnesses, including a brain tumor... she smoked for the pain, and also to regain an appetite... nothing else helped her... I'm not 100% convinced that this is actually related, but after smoking almost daily for a few years her tumor disappeared from her brain scans (??!!!???) ... and by the way her thinking mind is just as sharp as ever...
We don't need our children lighting up because it is legal. What kind of an example are we setting for the next generation?It will add to the burden of drug addiction and lethargy that goes with pot use.

Marijuana was made illegal for crowd control purposes. If everyone was chill and happy, the government would have less influence over the population. People would realize what a croc our government has become as well. Alcohol is clearly worse for society than weed. It's not even a seriously debatable issue. It's part of what feeds people into the penal system. Prisons are a big big money business in this country. Therefore we have to keep putting people in prison. If there were no more pot busts, privatized prisons would be hurting. So the government subsidizes the industry by keeping pot illegal.

Maybe something like this should be started in WA. I know that the drs aren't supposed to provide referrals to dispensaries, but as a third party just organizing the event.....dr's in one conference room at the hilton and one conference room for the providers.
Legalize the drugs causing all the crime in Mexico and on the border. Don't let a couple of companies control all drugs and advertise to get people addicted. People are smoking less now because of education. Maybe have certain buildings like bars where it is legal but other places like schools where it is illegal. Then lets raise money by taxing them. We should legalize it, but the taxes will not help. It we stop most of whats going on in Mexico. Marijuana has been around a lot longer then we have and yet the goverment had use it in the prison from the 1920 to the 1960, and the feds was useing all kinds of drugs and yet the ones that help outlaw thedrugs are the ones that used then in the 50's and 60's. Sounds like the land of the heavily policed, and the home of the overly prescription medicated.
Marijuana was made illegal for crowd control purposes. If everyone was chill and happy, the government would have less influence over the population. People would realize what a croc our government has become as well. Alcohol is clearly worse for society than weed. It's not even a seriously debatable issue. It's part of what feeds people into the penal system. Prisons are a big big money business in this country. Therefore we have to keep putting people in prison. If there were no more pot busts, privatized prisons would be hurting. So the government subsidizes the industry by keeping pot illegal.

i don't use drugs at all. don't drink booze or smoke. but the fact remains, the government created this mess over 60 years ago. people were smoking weed for decades, then when everything became a witch hunt i.e. (who's a communist, who's spying on America, who's doing whatever) pot became one of those ills that the noisy minority couldn't let alone. Booze is way worse than pot. Either make it illegal or legalize pot. Either/Or. Kierkegaard knew something about that ha.

To find a doctor and a provider can be a bit of a hassle.....To bring patients and doctors together like this guy did is a really good idea.
Maybe something like this should be started in WA. I know that the drs aren't supposed to provide referrals to dispensaries, but as a third party just organizing the event.....dr's in one conference room at the hilton and one conference room for the providers.
Legalize the drugs causing all the crime in Mexico and on the border. Don't let a couple of companies control all drugs and advertise to get people addicted. People are smoking less now because of education. Maybe have certain buildings like bars where it is legal but other places like schools where it is illegal. Then lets raise money by taxing them. Maybe that could help solve financial problems of the states , help with illegal immigration from Mexico. If people could make money growing drugs legally down there maybe they would stay and there would be less crime.
I agree with what you are saying.......I don't consider MJ a "drug" it's a natural substance, and requires little to no "processing" such as alcohol and cigarettes do.

It is a natural substance, and should be legalized. Every American citizen can then decide for themselves wether to partake of it or not. Limit sales and tax the crap out of it like anything else the government has its hands into. Pills and booze and tobacco are more harmful to you than pot. Too bad the government can't crack down on all the online pharmacies sending me spam for painkillers and viagra. Also, if they legalize it we will have less smugglers coming across the southern US border trying to ply their trade here.

We should legalize it, but the taxes will not help. It we stop most of whats going on in Mexico. Marijuana has been around a lot longer then we have and yet the goverment had use it in the prison from the 1920 to the 1960, and the feds was useing all kinds of drugs and yet the ones that help outlaw thedrugs are the ones that used then in the 50's and 60's. We, the people of the U.S.A. needs to wake up.
