You are correct Mike. The CONservative prudes will outlaw anything that they don't understand, and are afraid of. Spice was outlawed very quickly here in the Reddest Place in America, although considering that the synthetic Cannabinoids in Spice are 9-500 times more potent than the THC in regular marijuana, perhaps it was a good thing for these Mormons to try to keep their BYU-I students off of it.
This Salvia sounds very similar to LSD and mushrooms as far as the psychoactive effects.
Toilet bowl cleaner is legal too, but I wouldn't advise drinking it! As I understand it, this is already quite common all over. Besides the fact that it sounds potentially quite dangerous, I think it's potency is a major factor too. Many teens who experiment, do so in their cars. Convinced that being legal, it can't be dangerous or very potent, could easily lead to tragedy. This stuff is no comparison to "ditch weed", although it may be thought of as such by young experimenters.
You also need to be concerned about how this might work in combination with prescription ADD drugs and anti-depressents that are so frequently prescribed for teens these days. Any parents reading this, should take notice and talk with your kids about it. The fact is, they probably already know about it, but may not know about it's serious potential. Many will be believing that if it's legal, it can't be dangerous. Some kids will experiment no matter what you tell them, but at least you might have an impact on what environment they try it in. Better to arm them with real information.
This stuff incapacitates you and alters your mind yet its legal? Pot does not do any of those things and its illegal, WTF??!!
This article will definitely change two things.
1) The demand for this legal herb is going to skyrocket, especially with a celebrity (or at least somebody famous) using it.
2) Local, followed by state municipalities will try to pass ordinances making it illegal.

OMG! Another totally natural drug to freak out about. Goody.
Can't wait to see the government generated propaganda on this one.
