Dick is a lucky guy. He has health insurance to cover his heart-related medical issues. I wonder if the John Q. Public would receive the millions of dollars in medical services to prolong their lives if they didn't have Dick's government contacts?
The fact is, this is not a terribly difficult procedure. The actual implantation only took about 15 minutes. It took three hours to find the heart. The lead surgeon initially mistook it for a malignant tumor.
That would be a BIG NO!
Unfortunately, John Q Public with no/inadequate insurance would be dead, joining the ranks of the approximately 24 million who die each year is this country for that same reason.
I still don't understand how ordinary people could stand up and join these folks whose health insurance we the "tax payers" pay for until they die, in their fight against health care for all, for us.
On an other note, now that he has this fancy pump installed he will literally no longer have a pulse (this is not a joke), ironic isn't it.

But I do wish him a speedy and good recovery none the less
I truly hope this technology works in the long term, but shorter term I would love for this one to explode in his Cheney's chest within the next few hours.
His dead corpse should be buried in Baghdad in a shallow grave with his butt exposed so the people of Iraq will have a great place to park a bicycle.

Look at the miracle of keeping alive a hardworking, ex-governmental employee and faithful public servant who has had five heart attacks, the first at 37, and yet still given his all for his country! Must be nice to be able to afford health insurance, rather than "choosing" to pay bills and buy food (you know, extras). Health care can't be managed, nor should it EVER be a "for profit" industry. It costs the CEO money to keep the "real" patriots and hard working people alive; heaven forbid they shouldn't make that $200 million bonus this year. Then again, maybe "heaven" isn't what they should be looking forward to.

If he recovers, the Iraqi Army is looking for recruits. Their entry exam isn't as extensive as ours, he should be able to get in. Then he can fight for the cause he believes in so much. Take George with you, he can finish that national service he skipped out on.
