I just visited my dermatologist at the VA and they are still recommending avoiding sunlight without sunscreen. I told them that it was my choice and I would continue getting sunshine at local apparent noon for 20 minutes a day each day it was available and I would avoid most sunscreens as they contain carcinogens. When they suggested zinc oxide, I suggested a shirt. The final blow was when one of them said that 1% of body exposure for 10 minutes a day was all anyone needed from the sun. I think they are not very informed and although I didn't suggest it, they probably got their information from a sunscreen salesman.
