Another study, more money wasted on a study that even a under educated moron like me could have told you no kidding. And redwizard, I'm a janitor, who will likely kill myself because of the stupidity of over educated idiots. But instead of razor blades, I'll just use a gun, it's quicker.

Every occupation has its own culture and attracts people who enjoy that culture.
It's no surprise that the percentage of gay people who are hair stylists is much higher than the percentage of gay people who are plumbers. Hence more hair stylists die of HIV/AIDS.

A study done in 1893 (not joking about that either) found that Church of England clergy tended to live slightly longer than Roman Catholic clergy. In 1893, many liqour salesman and bartenders could not get life insurance because of their short and dangerous life spans.
One word celibacy, Catholic priests die earlier from prostate cancer from lack of use. :)
MC - The Roman Catholic clergy are the ones screwing kids. Church of England clergy can marry, so they usually screw their wives, girlfriends or adult female parishoners.

Actually its not just because a hair-dresser might be homosexual but the actual job itself could put you a risk.
My aunt was a hairdresser for years and she would go to hospitals and offer haircuts to patients (don't remember if she ever charged for it or not). I remember her telling me that if she was informed that the patient she was working on was HIV/Aids positive she would have to take extra precautions like gloves because of she cut her finger or if they had a cut on their head.. She would be at risk.
It would go the same for any occupation where you can prick a finger or cut yourself and coming in contact with a co-worker or client who has HIV/Aids

Then why wasn't nursing listed as more likely to die from HIV? Are tailors and dress makers coming in contact with hospital patients too? I don't remember getting fitted for my hospital gown.
Nurses take proper precautions and wear PPE to keep from catching HIV go into an ER the first thing they do is gown up and protect themselves and the ER Docs. Nobody is immune and they know it.
Can you imagine the fashion shows forhospital gowns? How about the runway walk and open back hospital gowns?

HIV is very hard to get. You have to have a lot of anal sex with a lot of people or share needles to get it. Transmission rates for single act of normal intercourse is 1 in 10 000. The only way that any group can statistically have a higher incidence of AIDS is if they are doing one of those 2 things. Even nurses are at extremely low risk of getting AIDS.

I think the point (pun intended) for tailors and dressmakers came from the needle not from the other thoughts occuring. For someone with multi-degrees and a PHD. I found it easier to deal with those with degrees' in common sense and I am completely convinced they will live longer bercause they live, love, and honor, mankind with a pleasing sense of gratitude for life. Respect others and your life will be respected, love others and you will be loved, honor others and you will be honored be truthful with yourself and others will be truthful with you. My best friend is my wife of 40+ years, we live our religion, and honor our children and respect each other and plan on living until we die at 100+ more in love then than when we started dating.
No. it couldn't be that creative people are more attracted to an unconventional lifestyle, it must be the fashion industry workers that are accidentally pricked (no pun intended) by a pin that has come in contact with an AIDS patient getting a new suit that this study was talking about.
I am in no way disparaging gays, but the lifestyle exposes them to risks more than their occupations.

Actually, yes, it does make me feel better. After the Arizona ruling, I am feeling pretty snarky. The only thing these studies prove is that someone is putting in a lot of time to prove things most of us already know. Can't wait to read the results on whether lack of sleep makes people feel tired, or skipping meals makes people hungry.

I am a Painter by trade and I do not use drugs. I would be more likely to die from stress or from my boss trying to make me do something that is not safe so he can make a quick buck. I think that this study is a F$#@ing joke find some thing better to do with taxpayer money!

Nurses are most likely to get HIV from an accidental needle prick after injecting an HIV carrier. Male dressmakers and hair stylists are apparently more likely to indulge in risky sex, which is the way most HIV is transmitted. Draw your own conclusions about percentages of homosexuals in those occupations.
While I admit that most hairstylists probably contact HIV/AIDS through risky behavior, I can't make the same determination for dressmakers. Any one who has been fitted for clothing, or made clothing knows that it is very easy to be poked and scratched by needles and pins during a fitting, while removing clothing with pins in it, and while actually sewing the garment. As for Nurses being more likely to get HIV from an accidental needle prick, not very likely these days. With the new needles that automatically retract after injections and blood draws, and double, sometimes triple gloving, nurses are far better protected than dress makers who can't feasibly wear gloves and who do not have the luxury of possessing retractable pins and needle.
Totally false. The idea that one can get AIDS from pin pricks etc. with any statistical consistency is ridiculous. Even in acts of unprotected sex, the rate of transmission is tiny, like 1 in 10 0000.
Nobody is getting AIDS form dress fittings. They are getting aids from having lots of anal sex with lots of partners, or sharing needles. It is the only way to get aids with any reliability. Of course - there are always other statistical oddities - but they are just that - oddities. Nurses, Doctors, dress-fitters, and brick-layers won't get aids from their profession any more than lighting might strike them. It could, but it's not a risk.
