I had a vasectomy seven years ago, and my sex drive (and activity) is ten times what it was. I am having sex MUCH more often than I used to. And no worries about getting my new wife pregnant, being able to be spontaneous, doing it anywhere and everywhere.

I do think the diminished orgasms and drive are rare, like the questioner and the author stated. I dated a guy who'd had one, and we could have marathon sex, and he'd have multiple orgasms. He wasn't like pretty much every other man who falls asleep after one shot. I would say the decreased drive is a mental thing, or a botched surgery. I've never known it to be true from personal experience.

Had one 16 years ago. It didn't decrease ANYTHING. Maybe it is a mental issue, I have been fine and happy, in fact better since I don't have the pregnancy thing to worry about. Pat doesn't mention that he (if pat is a he, remember the old saturday night live skit?) had one, I am guessing not, just a person with an issue and an ax to grind. This was the first surgical procedure I ever had, totally made me nervous, but all in all the BEST thing I ever did.

Having had a vasectomy since 2002 I can absolutely say with all confidence that it has not affected my sexual drive in any way, shape or form. I am as driven now as I always have been and although maybe not as much semen comes out it hardly matters to me or my partner. My wife and I thoroughly enjoy both our respective sexualities and we are still smitten with each other after 10 years of being exclusively with each other. We always look forward to our next love session as that one sometimes brings unexpected pleasures that were not attempted before. Please work it up and get into it, it only helps the relationship and keeps one yearning for more, again and again.

I had one in my 20's, now I am 40 and still very active. I was fairly promiscuous in my 20's and early 30's and not having the thought of pregnancy looming over made the experiences that much more enjoyable. My drive has done anything but decrease with age, the problem is my body isn't in line with my drive even though I am in fairly good shape.

And Pat, biologically we are here to reproduce, but anyone with a lick of common sense can see the world is over populated. If you want to contribute fine, but please don't tell me my life is unimportant, your mutha would would disagree. That was a joke by the way.

I had my Vasectomy in 1988 and I love the fact I can't have kids, I met my qouta with 8. My wife has passed on and I still have my moments that I perform above and beyond. My problem is I'm getting older and maintaining an erection for long periods, so I'm going to try viagra. Look out world up up and away................ha ha

I got nipped over 20 years ago, and it changed a lot. No longer was I worried about my wife being on the pill, no longer were there any questions about her having a more serious operation than I had, there were just a lot of concerns that went away. Everything just got better. Who cares how much you leave behind, anyway?

Snipped some 3 years ago ~ found out there & then that I only have one kidney!

Since, my activities have been bettered.

This in part due to better spontaneity and removal of that  awful, de-sensitizing  barrier 'thing'.

The doctors don't tell you that because of getting clipped you get cysts down with the boys and it can get so big that you think you grew a third one. You get the cyst because the sperm have no where to go and they build up in the plumbing so you get the infection. Not a lot of fun because you have to get a sonogram that is usually done by a women with you wife sitting there watching and worrying if you have cancer growing down there. Please tell the men of this side effect.

Had a vasectomy 5 years ago. No sex drive reduction at all. In fact, I was hoping it would a little as my libido tends to control my big brain a bit too much.

Procedure hurt like the dickens, but I'm one of those fortunate souls that does not respond to local anesthetic. I'm going under from now on for everything. Most guys I talk to said it was no problem for them.

@Roman My vas defrens was cauterized, I received my operation in 1988 never heard anything about clips, I was informed the sperm would just be eliminated through my body just like dead cells normally are eliminated.

I got 'snipped' in 1998 and my sex drive and volume have not gone down. Things actually seem the same though sex does slow down as you age.

I had the snip and cauterized at the same time. Wife did not want any more kids (2), did not like the feeling of the barrier, and vowed no more sex until the procedure was done. Did not have much swelling but it hurt!!!

Even the people claiming side effects are happy they were snipped. I had mine in 1992 and no problems of any kind. Aging and gaining weight - those are my "issues".

this is the most ludicrous bunch of nonsense I've ever heard. Plastic clips? Cysts? Seriously? I had a vasectomy at 29, I'm 34 now and couldn't be happier or healthier.

Oh come on guys you just don't want to admit you are getting older. Take some vitamins and move on. My husband had a vasectomy in the 70's and NO PROBLEMS.

Never heard of the clip thing. I had mine in 1988 and it was cut the tube and cauterize both ends. Still remember the smell and believe me it wasn't like chicken.

I had a vasectomy in 1977. It increased my drive as unwanted children were no longer a worry. It should also be MANDATORY for anyone who fathers more then 2 out of wedlock children!
