Excuse me, there's no need to attack his manhood by ordering him to quit. His body, his money, his choice, and none of them makes him any less of a man, but attacking someone's manhood like that certainly makes YOU look like a c*nt.
I believe there's over 1.3 billion chinese people. A million here a million there who's gonna miss them. Like that old country music song said "smoke, smoke, smoke them cigarettes til you smoke yourself to death."
For God's sake; everyone has to die. There's no absolute as to how anyone is going to die; not even how someone is supposed to die. The one absolute is that you're going to die. Deal with it and learn to live as if each day may be your last. And I don't mean you should be irresponsible but live each day in joy and gratitude. Enjoy your loved ones, God's creation. and be good to people. Stop wasting your lives on trying to prevent the inevitable; your own death and that of the people you know.
That's your personal view which is great. You are certainly entitled to it as long as you do not infringe on the rights of others. Just as smokers should be free to smoke all they want if that is what they choose.
However, smokers often do end up infringing on the rights of others. Smoke does not affect just the person smoking, but all other nearby people. Smoke drifts and does not dissipate very quickly. It sticks around. It's easily spread around by ventilation systems in buildings. The smoke from a neighboring apartment unit can enter nearby units and can harm vulnerable people, such infants, the elderly, or the infirm. Cigarette smoke contains 250+ harmful chemicals, over 50 of which cause cancer, such as:
arsenic (a heavy metal toxin)
benzene (a chemical found in gasoline)
beryllium (a toxic metal)
cadmium (a metal used in batteries)
chromium (a metallic element)
ethylene oxide (a chemical used to sterilize medical devices)
nickel (a metallic element)
polonium-210 (a chemical element that gives off radiation)
vinyl chloride (a toxic substance used in plastics manufacture)
I do choose to live my life with joy and gratitude. I also choose to live my life without breathing in toxic chemicals. I believe that no other person should be able to take this right away from me, yet, it happens all the time. Whenever I have the joy and privilege of breathing clean, smoke-free air, I never take it for granted.
That list sounds like either the chemical formula for air or milk in China! Whats the difference how they get it. Sounds like overpopulation control for 1 + billion people.
And who is responsible for this nation-wide health catastrophe? American tobacco companies! I was in China 15 years ago. Everywhere we went, particularly in Beijing, cigarettes were being distributed in packs of five to anyone and everyone, including children. Swarms of people were crushing together to get the free cigarettes and lighting up on the spot - the whole area had a huge smoke cloud hovering over it. The following day outside the largest department store in Beijing three young women were up on an elevated platform throwing these small packs of cigarettes to the crowd - they were Winston and Marlboro cigarettes. With such a strict government, I'm surprised they allowed this - or perhaps with such an enormous population they thought this would limit the number of people.
I feel better that more places in America are restricting where you can and can't smoke. As a person with a skin disease that smoking can affect (I don't smoke myself), it makes me feel better that there are more places I can go and not worry about getting cig smoke in my face.
You're lucky so far, I just buried my father because of smoking. He smoked longer than you and it took 6 weeks from diagnosis to burial. I bet he was quite proud of his long smoking career, too. Honestly I wouldn't wish that painful death on anyone.
Edit: this was in response to cheapster505, I accidentally made a new post.
If those people choose to smoke knowing the risks, wouldn't you say that those people don't give two $hi+s about their own health? So why should anyone else?
Some people smoke cigarettes, some people drink alcohol. Some people even shoot heroin. We all have our own vices. Each and every one of us. Isn't there some advice from long ago about taking care of your own issues before condemning others for theirs?
As dangerous as we know it is here, a lot of people there don't know. Remember they have several hundred million who live poorer than Appalachia. I saw great progress in the main cities but once you get out its as if you go back in time...
High smoking rates may protect retirement plans from going broke. You smoke, you work, you pay into retirement plans like Social Securityt, you die early, you don't collect on what you put in. More money left for me and other responsible people.
Many detrimental effects of smoking occur long before your painful, early death. Insurance companies charge you more because you're a drain on their expenses, you don't live to be a part of your grandchildren's lives, you stink up everywhere you light up, your teeth are yellowed, you wrinkle earlier, your breath stinks..... the list goes on.
Quit. Yes, you'll go through withdrawals. Much better than the alternatives.
Iif you want to smoke you should have every right to. I think it is perfectly acceptable for you to chose this type of death, some people choose to booze, some use guns, knives, pills- whatever.Just go quickly with stroke or heart attack, and please don't linger. The medical costs are horrendous, it's painful for families to watch those that claim that it hurts no one but the abuser suffer so.It seems to me that every form of chemical abuser puts their drugs above other human beings, but are the first ones that want kindness and sympthy once it is too late. So selfish!!!!
I've smoked for 49 years and have attended funerals of friends who have died from alcohol abuse
drug overdoses heart attacks Guns Accidents Prostrate cancer cancers of all kinds sadly to say most of these non'-smokers will not Attend MY funeral
You're lucky...so far. What goes around comes around.
I quit seven years ago. Man up and quit.
Excuse me, there's no need to attack his manhood by ordering him to quit. His body, his money, his choice, and none of them makes him any less of a man, but attacking someone's manhood like that certainly makes YOU look like a c*nt.
A business associate/friend in Taiwan died of lung cancer in 2003. His brand of smokes: Long Life Cigarettes.

Your attitude is disqusting. Could you at least pretend to give two sh*ts about the people whose lives are at stake?
I'd rather hear the man's real opinion. If you care, say you care. If you don't, say you don't. At least he's being truthful.

Isn't it interesting that China has more freedom (in this area) than Americans? Oh the irony!

This is a great opportunity to address the overpopulation problem!
Yes. overpopulation is a serious problem. We should be begging more people to smoke.
