My Question: Why was the ban of a toxic chemical left OUT of the bill? Legislators put all kinds of "crap" in bills, that have nothing to do with the bill itself, all the time. So why was something that pertains to the health of the American Citizen left out! I want to know. All I can say is that I hope all those who agreed to leave this ban out of the legislation get sick and loose their health because they eat foods contaminated with this stuff. It is in aluminum cans, plastic, and we all know how many items are either canned or come in plastic: just about everything. Happy eating, America!
Well technically far more people would die from food poisoning if it weren't for the plastic linings in food cans than are likely to be affected by the plastic itself.
I believe there are alternatives but it's a case of "the devil you know".
James82, they can use a different plastic lining, one without BpA. There are now baby bottles and water bottles made without this known-to-be-dangerous chemical. The "Devil" is BpA. It is known to cause problems in children, there are alternatives, so get rid of it. Some dingbat lobbyist representing a major greedy food processor evidently bought a senator who removed the provision for removing BpA from cans. Let's try and find out who so we can remove him/her/it.
