LMAO, what gets me is how they suggest it's shocking that men subconsciously pick up on it too and act differently to the women. After 14 years on the pill (and three off), I can pick out LOTS of things my cycle is tied to.
An interesting book I read suggested that women are the sexiest things on earth because of our concealed ovulation. It makes men ALWAYS want to sleep with us and it tricks them because the oxytocin rush associated with their orgasm bonds them to us.
di you take your profile picture in the middle of your most fertile time? Just saying according to this article thats why I think you look good. In my opinion though it's the nice smile pretty face and long auburn hair and I'd find those features attractive even if you were menstruating and pissed off!
Who did this study - CLOISTERED MONKS? Ovulation causes chemical changes that effect the way a woman feels physically and emotionally, her behavior, and even the way she smells. Women have known this forever.
I agree with you and knoman. A lot of money from somebody has gone into research that seems obvious to everyone but monks, some computer geeks who seem to be most turned on by the ozone produced by eletricity and probably some of the primates living in D.C. who are conflicted about everything but taxing us.
I have to say, however, that it seems to me that a woman's voice does not get more high-pitched right before she ovulates, but right before she menstruates. I have over 35 years of research under my belt about this. I have no sons, a wife, 2 daughters and work in a situation where most of the employees are women. I am a drone awash in a sea of estrogen. The high pitched keening wail that occasionally nearly deafens me and always makes me cringe and tremble makes me think that we are sending the wrong sex into battle at times. "The female of the specie is more deadly than the male" applies to love, child-rearing and retribution. What I cannot get over is how one woman will cut another one's throat and a minute later they are hugging and sharing a box of Klenex.
they have to produce something to keep getting those taxpayer research funds, but like you and me they know washington is stupid and can be sold anything.
Please! Elucidate! This could be a sequel to Indiana Jones, the "Road to ...." movies, or even field of dreams. My imagination is racing. I can see a black and white film starting in a casino in a banana republic or North Africa. Just not Australia or Massachusetts.
Amerecaratgirl: Please....women are not the sexiest thing on earth. What the study did not say was that a very, very large percentage of men are bisexual and also a large percetage of men are born gay....I love women but dudes are the sexiest things on earth.....there are tons of masculine men out there sleeping with other masculine men.

The purpose of research is to offer irrefutable proof that can be used as a basis or for validation for other findings, in addition to increasing our understanding of the subjects being explored. Imagine how one might change how they deal with their teenage girls, during ovulation. Imagine how this might affect therapy, or treatments for people whose behavior is severely affected by regular hormonal changes in the fertility cycle. This may not be big news to some, but what this does, is it helps researchers and some patients make their points with their doctors, or their insurance companies. Think back to the belief that foods with lots of seeds cause outbreaks of diverticulosis, but after careful research it was discovered that no, it is actually highly processed food that causes irritation and not seeds or whole grains.
For some time, Amaloid plaques were thought to be the main cause of Alzheimers, but recent research results said, no, that they were only a factor and that their function in this disease is not as well understood as recently thought.
We thought that brain cells once killed never come back. But recent studies show that no, we have what is called neuroplasticity. Though the rate of recovery is affected by age, health, and extent of injury, most brains if given ample time and stimulation will rewire themselves.
This story here, is good stuff. It increases our understanding of behavior during menstrual cycles, and how hormones affect mate choices. Imagine picking your mate while on the pill and then getting off the pill and deciding you hate his guts. A small decision to go off the pill could have saved some women the trouble and the money of picking a guy they cannot stand, while full of progesterone.
I would like to see them bounce these results off of a study to see how Transexual men who are on hormones choose their partners, as opposed to those who are pre-op or not using hormones. That would be genuinely interesting and could yield more, even better directions to take this study, for both males and females in terms of homones effects on behavior and brain chemistry. This could also be important in studies regarding PAHs, and endocrine disrupters that mimic hormones in the human body.
I completely agree with your arguments. It doesn't matter how logical, redundant, or surprising the findings of a study may seem to some people. It takes many years of repeating and building upon research in order to reasonably conclude that a theory is generally true or false.
I do not personally have interest in centering my career (allied health) around conducting research. I do know that those who do put a great deal of time and effort into research make what I do in my career worthwhile and meaningful. After all, my patients would not benefit nearly as much if I didn't have someone else's research to help determine the how to appropriately evaluate and treat them.
There's a whole "hormone horoscope" based on all the changes that go on during a woman's entire monthly hormone cycle--not just during ovulation. You can find it at www.myhormonesmademedoit.com. And, ps, guys have a hormone cycle, too. It's 24 hours long. And you can find out more about it at that website, too.
Being 50 and a woman, I can tell you that the voice drops somewhat lower pitch and stays that way forever at his age. I like it better though; there are times I too cringe from hearing younger women's voices now. I always ask, "Did I really sound that way"? It's particularly shocking while viewing myself on a video of home movies; I can hardly believe it was me.
yeah it's an observation on the better part of ourselves, until; someone goes disrespectively against an already agreeable system (failing drivers test),against god in her own house, space and privacy, plus to become an unknown source of societies miscounts and problems;. no matter how much research and biblical coparisons it makes sense, that this detestable person hasn't been revealed except to blame or have an excuse to blame someone else,.environmental, econimical, ecological,is laws.if anything is a little clearer and reminders aren't required.i already knew how to drive, take care of yard, and ride my bike, and walk my dog.the bich is too big for me to deal with by myself, very depriving and rich with no concerns.does anyone know if buttheads still owes for beavis' chair?
Shocking news! Womens' behavior changed by what part of the menstrual cycle they're in? What a revelation.

But it's the PMS at the other side of the cycle that makes us want to tell you to ph*ck off.

So have men.

Sniffing t-shirts? Now this is my idea of a research project! I could have had a lot of fun with this one! So many subjects, so little time...: D
LOL...Women dress mainly for other women only during ovulation??
There are times of the month they're LESS attracted to the George Clooneys of the world??
Ok, someone needs to come up for air and get out of their lab....
I guess if you cant start a band, this is what geeks do to meet girls. ;)
WHY IS THIS NEWS? We have known that p.m.s. alters behavior for a long time.
they have to produce something to keep getting those taxpayer research funds, but like you and me they know washington is stupid and can be sold anything.
Why is this news?
Why is this news? Why is it remarkable? What is new or different about it?
I totally get it. My hubs can't get enough when I am ovulating...thank god for the V-Sec
If a woman is 100 lbs overweight it wouldn't matter if she were spitting out eggs the size of golf balls.
That reminds me of my last trip to Thailand...

How interesting!!! Talking about biological perspective of "true love".
