Send a thank you letter to the National office of the ASPCA. They have spent millions campaigning for bigger pens or preferably "free range" enclosures. This makes sanitation more difficult and of course, helps the spread of salmonella. It's not possible to have birds running all over and than keep them away from infected areas. Those heart breaking ads about abandoned and abused puppies are not helping puppies. They spent 90 million dollars getting Callifornia's Prop 2 passed. They intend to press this farther and get the chickens all "Free Range". We never had salmonella in eggs in California until this crap got started!
I'm no fan of many of the "animal rights" groups, but your attitude is whacked. Industrial farming is bad for the animals and worse for humans. The source of this outbreak is Iowa, you twit. It has nothing to do with Prop 2.
But what came first, the egg or the salmonella?
