There are many great resources and professionals who can assist families in the aging field. Two of my professional groups: 1. the National Associate of Professional Geriatric Care Managers specialize in helping families and elders navigate family differences by care planning and family meetings. 2. National Association of Social Workers are available to provide family negotiations, elder advocacy, and counselling. Visiting either site as well as your local Office for Aging can be a helpful place to start. Also many families, if available to them, can use their Employee Assistance program as the starting place to search for help so their family can work together as a team to find positive solutions to an elder's care.
