yes...it was a conventional farm (aka factory farm) not an organic farm. Your conventional farms use human waste sludge as fertilizer and do not give a crap (pardon the pun) about anything other than profit, where as organic farming, and family farming is about the true love of what they are doing, growing good REAL food. Organic farming would never use human waste or animal by product to fertilize or feed.

Not only that, cheap product is like shopping at Chinamart, get what you pay for. You buy cheap produce, meat and eggs, what do you expect? Organic is more expensive for a reason, the workers don't have to take a dump in the fields and mistreat the animals because they are paid a decent wage.

I'm not 100% vegan, but I am 100% organic...for a reason. MY HEALTH.

Vegans don't eat/use anything that comes from an animal (including by products). That includes meats, eggs, fish, honey, milk, and to more extreme, things like wool, leather, etc.

A vegetarian doesn't eat meat, but can eat by-products (honey, eggs, milk etc.)

Then you have the odd-balls that insist on being special even further:
ovatarian = you are a vegetarian, but also consume only eggs.
Lactotarian (I believe is the term) = you are a vegetarian, but also consume only dairy.
Pollotarian = you are a vegetarian, but also consume only poultry.
Pescatarian = you are a vegetarian, but also consume only fish.

For the last two. . .I'm sorry, but you are an OMNIVORE. The whole idea of being a vegetarian is that you don't eat MEAT, but you can eat the byproducts.

Thank you very much, you have truly enlightened me. I was under the impression that they don't eat eggs because they consider the eggs to be living beings, a chicken in the most early stage of its life. Which had led me to believe that all vegans are pro-life. But now I know better.

For those people in here who like organic, remember that about 2700 people DIE every year from bacteria and viruses on organic food. And "organic" is a BIG multi-billion $$ business , not just some local farmer selling his beets .

Having extensively studied the Bush Fault theorems. The formulas are easy to work. Also they can easily be applied to any president regardless of age or race. However if the president is a democrat then the formula will no longer function with normal applied calculations. Example Bush: Gas prices go up = BAD = his fault, Gas prices go down = GOOD = not this fault. if you notice the ratio of good to bad is what drives the end product for the proper result. Example Obama: Gas prices go up = BAD = Not his fault, Gas prices go down = GOOD = His fault. if you notice the ratio of good to bad is still what drives the end product for the proper result. However the end results are inverted, this is accounted for because of party / media affiliation. Its all very scientific. Political party / media affiliation is not a factor for a republican president. So in this story it can not be Obamas fault because it is something bad. If Bush was still president then the result would be it was indeed his fault, even if it in no way could be. In fact the end result is skewed by the Political Party / media affiliation so greatly even if Bush were to leave the planet and had no contact with anyone for a decade, anything bad will still be his fault. Hope this clears things up!

What causes salomonella in eggs, is that the greedy owners are taking the manure from the chickens and drying it and taking the dried manure and mixing it with the chickens feed. Do like I do if you can, we have 15 hens and raise our own eggs. Our chickens are not fed any chemicals or medicines. Good fresh eggs.

Not that many years ago ... small farms used to grow chickens in pens that were placed above the hog pens. Any guesses why? Hogs will eat anything, including the feed dropped from the chickens and chicken droppings commonly referred to as feces (sometimes spelled faeces).

Seriously this is no more the Republicans fault than it is the Democrats. We can regulate business until they are financially bled dry and or have to raise the cost of their products to the point the average person can't afford them (because believe me the will pass on the increased cost of doing business to the consumers) and that will not stop things like this from happening. As long as we have migrant farm workers defecating and urinating in the fields we will have problems with the crops. As long as we have mass producing egg farms where the chickens are kept in filthy small cages this will happen.

To your comment on blaming the republicans Rita. This new oversight that you want to give will only help the big companies. It will kill the Ma and Pa farms. Is this want you want? What we really need is government to do there jobs instead of taking kick backs and turning their heads. No more regulations no more government employees. In case you didn't know, you only need to cook steak to medium, or 145 degrees to eliminate the potential for foodborne illness. Steak does not need to be well-done to eliminate bacteria, including salmonella.

AND, guys, in addition to washing your hands, stay away from pet lizards! Those suckers are responsisble for 70-80% of all the salmonella cases in the U.S. It grows on their scales....

HEY BB1957! Run for office, I will vote for you! In Jr. High School social studies, I seem to recall that originally politicians were exactly why you described! There WERE terms, and they had to return to society and live within the laws they passed and next door to the neighbor that was also affected. The concept of a farmer, teacher or laborer being a small town mayor is also what our government is supposed to be. There were no professional politicians, just lay people serving their neighbors. We are now graduating professional politicians who have never lived within the "commoners" means, and will never have to. "We" is not a concept anymore, "they" have never lived within our limits with our rules, laws, health insurance or retirement. I WANT a working person, with real problems, a sick child, overturned mortgage who fights with the insurance company and banks. No silver spoons or special treatment!
