He said, "It's very alarming that people have been allowed to get so fat..."
Is he advocating cracking down on people gaining weight and somehow FORCING them to diet? Or that people should be legally prohibited from gaining weight? Odd viewpoint...
Cookies/biscuits in the UK are very inexpensive (and delicious). It's not surprising that there are many obese people there. I personally think the junk food there is a better quality than in the states. Stores haves sales which even make them more alluring. Years ago I didn't see many overweight people when visiting in the UK but that has changed. I think people used to walk more than they do now.
Do you know what probably hasn't increased 10 fold? The community's involvement. I get sick and tired of people teasing fatties and not hiring people that are overweight and otherwise taking too much of their thought process to make sure that large people are put down; when they should turn their efforts into positive endeavors that would help these people.
When you have schools that feed children pizza and french fries every day and Churches and communities that fail to sponsor safe walks and senior centers that don't do enough to promote fitness (hanging a sign on the wall doesn't count!) ...add that all up and you get a whole lot of people that would rather torment people than help them.
I wonder how many of the people who get the surgery end up gaining the weight back? Until you learn to feed yourself properly and exercise, it is only a matter of time until you are right back where you started.
