Asking how you would get typhoid fever from eating a Popsicle just shows your ignorance to how things happen. The disease stays dormant until it is warmed in your body.

Typhoid is water-borne, I believe, so it could conceivably be in fruit that was mishandled. I am so grateful to NAFTA, now we can get anything we want from anywhere, including typhoid fever.

Typhoid is dangerous. It's a form of salmonella and is difficult to treat once it's been contracted being it's a gram-negative bacteria. One of the reasons it's so dangerous is because an infected person can be completely asymptomatic (Typhoid Mary would be a good example) and still spread the disease which can be deadly. It can be transmitted through flies and feces, but mostly, it comes from unsanitary practices like failing to handwash after using the toilet, or through contaminated water systems. We rarely innoculate for Typhoid in North America anymore, but if you're going to travel to the South Pacific, Africa or parts of Asia, it's not a bad idea to be vaccinated for it. Hopefully anyone who ate one of those bars gets tested, last thing we need is some asymptomatic person wandering around spreading the disease.

Trust me if more than just a handful of people become ill with typhoid it can result in the death off hundreds, possible thousands. This disease is a very dast spreader, and is nothingh to laugh st, scoff st or me remarked on by clueless morons. I know let's have the selected morons who think this is just a hoax or a joke do a book report on Typhoid Mary. BTW. you can be a carrier of this disease and have zero symptoms. Get your kids tested. Let me get this straight..typhoid outbreak but no reported illnesses here? Did I read that correctly? What a stupid statement. While typhoid is not considered a risk here any longer I think that since we are hiring illegals and getting our food from third world countries maybe we should start innoculating again. We will also need to start using one of the banned pesticides thanks to the hotel chains also hiring illegals to do the cleaning and now they are all over run with bed bugs. This fruit was contaminated from wherever it was grown. Typhoid is carried through contaminated water. Ever been to Mexico and seen how some crops are irrigated by sewer water? Rather disgusting. Remember history when London was nearly wiped out by typhoid? People throwing waste water in the streets, contaminating rivers,etc. Someone many years ago figured out to boil water for cooking and drinking, and don't eat where you excrete! Goya Food Co. is based out of Houston Texas, catering to Mexican,Latino, and Spanish food specialties. The fruit in this instance was one grown in Latin countries. I'm just glad that supermarkets now label the fresh produce on their country of origin. It's getting to the point where you take a chance with your life every time you go to the grocery store!

My daughter contracted Typhoid 35 years ago at 15 months of age, and it took about a year for her to fully recover. We lived in San Luis Obispo and it took weeks for her to get the diagnosis before she could start treatment. This is a serious illness and still around today. What I learned from all of this is to eat locally grown foods, and never give a baby unpasteurized goat milk.

As far as the eggs I choose to buy from a local farmer whom takes great care of their chickens and local produce. BP Oil took too long and argued to much when they could have fixed the problem and they messed with alot of innocent peoples lives and ocean life. And if it's not USA made be very wary.

Every time you turn around some kind of food is being recalled. I think its a darn shame. Companies need to start changing their policies on how these are being processed and packaged. Seems like the only safe food anymore is the food that you grow yourself.
