Garry Minor 3 vomits this same excrement on every cancer article he can find. He claims to be a priest. He is pushing his own agenda on pot. Often his comments have nothing to do with the actual subject.
Garry, I think pot should be legalized but not because it cures anything. It can make life better for a terminally ill person but give it a break! Also, don't send me any more of your junk about it being mentioned in the Bible. You are wasting both my time and yours.
Nope. Smoking causes a different type of cancer called squamous cell. Adenocarcinoma is caused by stomach acid reflux. Smoking has nothing to do with this at all.
No, it's not caused by people smoking. Esophageal adenoCA is caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease. And that occurs because of diet and obesity. Plain and simple. To boot-what's true in the UK is true in the US-if you're fat and have frequent heartburn, watch out.
I lost my wonderful father to this type of cancer this past January at the age of 72. He smoked a pipe when he was young, but that was all. He ate a very healthy diet and was not overweight. He did have reflux, however. I am also wondering about a genetic link to this type of cancer since my uncle (Dad's brother) has now been diagnosed with this same cancer. Cancer truly s**cks.
I was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the distal esophagus August 16th last year, started treatment at Mayo Clinic 3 weeks later, and am cancer free now. At the time I was told I had a 60% shot at being considered cured (5 years disease-free) - funny, but AA taught me to live one day at a time a long time ago, so things like a five year or eight year life expectancy aren't very real to me, as its off in the future.
AA is wonderful...much more effective than the Politically Correct Mental Health Community. AA has helped so many people and they don't drain the Federal tax coffers! Actually many of our fighting men/women could benefit more from AA than all that counseling....like the 25% of the total population of Ft Hood got free counseling and many were paid while there! Just because some NUT shot innocent people (Please ..nothing against the poor victims) most the survivors at Ft Hood went to counseling didn't even know the people & didn't see the shooting...what a scam! Anyway, Rick...Good luck to you!
Gary, you need to read things more carefully before clicking on it. A URL as was shown will never lead you to anything legit. These guys lurk everywhere. Becareful because those sites care often infected with viruses and trojans and can do a number on your pc or mac.
No more chocolate, no more mac and cheese at midnight, no more greasy foods or fruit later in the evening. The reduction in those bad habits have reduced my gerd that can be controlled by otc antacids. It will be interesting when countries with socialized medicine follow America's dietary habits.
hello duce is from usafrom vcv,bc,canada-we have country farm-the produce is from usa,mexico,local-this produce lasts one week-the indian people eat unions daily-systems are cleansed-teeth as well-organic eggs are now mandantory-we just had 30,000,000 sockeye run-largest since 1913????????????our ocean islands hold unlimited crab-so this area has excellent food supply-but we are overloaded with persians and asians,phillipinos-they are after all white males jdenishuggard@hotmail.com
My husband had adenocarcinoma with an unknown primary. I feel that this was part environmental and part lifestyle. He had all the behaviors associated with a high cancer risk: being overweight, eating high fat foods (often overcooked), being exposed to herbicides, and smoking. Yet I feel that the diet was probably the main factor because his body didn't have a chance to counter the environmental risk.
This has nothing to do with smoking and if one does some research one will find that it is true.
After having seen a family member suffer and die from this disease, (he never smoked a day in his life), I came to the conclusion that it because of the stress that men are under today, and this constant bile rising in the throat, and them eating worthless products like Tums, to control it, INSTEAD of going to a doctor until it's to late, is the real problem.
It was then that his wife found out that it is the fastest rising cancer in men today. He was not over weight, ate health, and worked hard.
Oh and the problem with their "I can control all that God throws at me" bullsh*t, doesn't help either.
Yes, in fact that is the reason we see more cancer nowadays.
In 1900, the average life span for a man or woman in the US was about 42 years of age. People died back then of infectious diseaeses, ie, tetanus, smallpox, cholera. typhoid fever, yellow fever (endemic in the US at the time of Lewis and Clark in 1803), malaria - also endemic in the US back then, pneumonia, staph and strep infections, whooping cough (pertussis), TB, and many other infectious diseases.
Today we have conquered most of these diseases ( at least in the US and Europe ) and now face the problem of living past an age that nature set for us. So, what do we die of today, cancer and heart disease, with heart disease being the biggest culprit.
no doubt that esophageal cancer is on the rise. Facts are facts and those facts point to a definite, large increase in this type of cancer in Caucasian, over 50 males who drink alcohol, smoke and have more than average gastric reflux. The only way to tell is to have an EGD (esophagogastroduodenoscopy). The only way to prevent? it is to change whatever risk factors that you have. Ask your doctor if you might benefit from this procedure. It is quick, relatively cheap and much more accurate than an upper gi barium swallow x-ray.
It occurs in women too. I have acid reflux and my doctor had an EGD done when I had my "hello, you are 50 colonoscopy." They biopsied so funky looking tissue but it came back clear.
Part of the problem with men showing an increasing rate is that they are less likely to raise the issue of acid reflux (or pretty much any health concerns really). My husband didn`t until I pushed him to do so. His PA put him on medicine for acid reflux and had the EGD done on his last colonoscopy. He had inflammation in his stomache but nothing in his esophogus. The only reason it or any of his health issues are kept on top of (since he won`t listen to me) is that our doctors office calls him every six months to get a check up for his various issues. Otherwise he would not go to the doctors for any reason.
Having said all that I also believe there are numerous environmental issues effecting us today. We have already had cancer in one child when she was only 23. Did you know that thyroid cancer is one that is on the rise? Well it is. You don't hear of it often but start looking at the necks around you. You will be surprised at how many have a scar there. My husbands co-worker just had one removed this last month. One place I worked 10 out of 55 of us had thyroid dysfunction and one person had had thyroid cancer. Very strange.
Acid reflux is the most common cause of this type of cancer and poor eating habits cause acid reflux. It's real simple....improved eating habits = lowered risk, just like quitting smoking = lowered risk of lung cancer. Not smoking decreases your chance even more. So, if we never pick up bad eating habits, we'd lower our risk even more, too.
See, it isn't just smoking. It's every damn thing.
No, it could not be anything but genetics as far as I'm concerned. My husband was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the Esophageal Gastric junction at the ripe old age of 52. He was slightly overweight, but ate plenty of veges and wholesome food, as I prepared most of it ( and my family was into healthful diets long before it became popular). He died just before his 54th year. there were also cousins who were dx. with this also. On the other hand, my father was called a portly man for years, and ate steak and potatoes with some fish and salads; this man lived to 97 years old!
It is now WHAT you eat it is WHO you eat.....tests have shown men get throat cancer from women that have HPV viruses! Probably more dangerous than Smokeless tobacco.
Perhaps, but nearly half of people have HPV - so it is difficult to avoid.
HPV (the virus). Approximately 20 million Americans are currently infected with HPV. Another 6 million people become newly infected each year. HPV is so common that at least 50% of sexually active men and women get it at some point in their lives.
One factor that probably might be a cause for this rise is the sedentary lifestype that most Brits now have similar to their American counterparts. When I grew up in England, the diet was just as bad but the difference was that back then everyone walked everywhere, not too many people had cars and public transportation was fine but limited and hence everyone walked. Now it has become more like the US where everyone travels by car, rarely walks and people sit around rather than having an active lifestyle. A sedentary lifestyle combined with a bad diet is the root cause for so many diseases.
People need to pay more attention to their bodies and listen to their inner thoughts...de-program themselves an start over....If you see your self getting fat...nip in the bud and start a healthy regimen....
My husband died four years ago at the age of 49 from esophageal cancer. He was very healthy, didn't drink or smoke - never did. There was no history of cancer in his family. He was a firefighter by profession which could have contributed to his condition.
He was having problems swallowing and went in to have his esophagus strectched when they found the tumor. They said the reason for his cancer was from acid reflux but he never had a lot of issues with that (very seldom). He did radiation and chemo and lived ten months after being diagnosed.
I have stage 4 esophageal adenocarcinoma and I am only 36 years old. I have about six months left to live with the help of chemo. I have been fighting the disease for 7 months now, but I don't have a chance as the chemo works at first but then the cancer quickly mutates against every chemo I try. My cancer is incurable, and palliative chemotherapy is the only available treatment. Radiation and surgery are not an option due to the extent of metastisis in the lymph nodes.
What bothers me is that there is no awareness at all for this type of cancer. The media always talks about breast and prostate cancer, but esophageal cancer is not mentioned. I had no idea I could get cancer this young and did not know the symptoms.
By the way, I do not smoke. Smoking and drinking have no relation at all to adenocarcinoma. Adenocarcinoma is from acid reflux exposure. Smoking and drinking cause a different type of cancer call squamous cell.
It was caused by people smoking in the US.
Everything in the US is blamed on smoking.

There is a well-considered theory, only outside the USA and AMA, of course, that these types of
cancers are a response to a virus, the same virus family that causes herpes and uterine cancer,
shown to cause genital warts, prostate and testicular cancer, but the USA would never push a
program to inoculate American boys, only the girls, and I'll leave you to figure out why. It's also
related to rectal cancer and esophageal cancer, and I'll leave you to figure out why. Bag it up,
even if you're eating out tonight! Want the odds? "The incidence of squamous cell esophageal
cancer is more than five times higher among US Black men (16.8 per 100,000) than among US
White men (3.0 per 100,000). The combination of all four major risk factors—low income,
moderate/heavy alcohol intake, tobacco use, and infrequent consumption of raw fruits and
vegetables—accounted for almost all of the squamous cell esophageal cancers in Whites (98%)
and Blacks (99%) and 99% of the excess incidence among Black men." Don't smoke after eating!

Squamous cell esophageal cancer is associated with smoking and alcohol consumption.
As long as they're just associated and not married, it's ok!

It's probably caused by all the damn drinking they do over there! And Americans are catching up fast!

Your birth certificate DOES have an expiration date.

My husband was diagnosed with esophageal cancer & had surgery 1/31/2001,they took 3/4 of his
esophagus out & said with the surgery he would have about 4 years left, This Jan 31 2010 will be 10 years & we're still praising God...
His Doctors had been watching him since he was 16 because of the acid & he knew one day this would probably happen...
