Sure, arrest some more people for victimless crimes. Marijuana should be legal wether it's medical or recreational. Come November the federal government will have no choice but to reexamine their failed policy on marijuana, since California will be legalizing/taxing recreational use by responsible adults.

Our police have many more important things to do than harrass potheads. Go get the heroin & meth dealers, catch a rapist or murderer, or arrest the corporate scam artists who keep ruining our economy.

Marijauna is a plant God Placed on this earth for All to Enjoy. It has been lied about to be made Illegally. If Our Govenment would legalize this plant, it would do so much for all of us. Do some research and see how it helps prevent Cancer of the Neck and Head and also does so much for Glaucoma and other Illnesses. Also Hemp should be legal for all of us to use to make Paper, Fuel, Paint, Clothes , and so many products.. I am a medical patient , Obama promissed this would end the raids on Medical Patients..

Where is the Change Obama? You said this wasn't going to Happen.. Free the weed.. I hope all of these people get freed and there charges are dropped because this is wrong, when they became medical patients and caregivers that is why this is so wrong.. they are not drug dealers... get a life ..

Oh my goodness this is not the change you thought you were going to get? Pot is not the answer to the ills of America. I do agree that it is time to review the war on drugs and how it has crippled the courts and police from doing real criminal detection. That said to make pot available to all walks of life is a misteak. I do speak from experience and consider myself lucky that I am alive today because of the addiction I had to this drug. If a person who wants to stay addicted to any substance will always find an excuse to justify thier using their chosen "demon" be it pot or what ever they get high with. Put the joint down and step away form it, you will be better off in the long run.

Unfortunately and I really hate to point this out, Obama is only able to stop the Fed's ie; DEA from raiding legal dispensaries with regard to the states who wisely legalized Medical Marijuana. The last Administration had the DEA raiding dispensaries because it is still a federal crime to buy, sell or use Marijuana for any purpose and while this law is still on the books, Obama is not allowing the fed to get into the individual states business for medical use. That said Marijuana is still on a list of banned drugs in the United States , that are considered to be so dangerous that they will never be of any medical value.

Many Universities, some of the best in the world, have studied Marijuana for medical treatment and studied for both effectiveness and safety and ALL have concluded that is SAFE and effective to treat many illnesses and some doctor's think should be considered to be a first choice in treatment instead of a last choice based on it's safety record, currently it can be considered to be one of the safest drugs available (safer then Tylonal, given it's record of liver distruction) and it don't have to be smoked for those with lung problems. Strangely enough before it was banned, I think in the 30's? Doctors were prescribing marijuana for many of the same ailments that we are using it for today and more. Funny how those old time commonsense doctors really did know what they were doing. Sadly in this case, the student insisted that the teacher with a lifetime of experience was wrong, and now the student knows that the teacher was right all along.
