Dan, the points you made were exactly the ones I thought of as I read this poor excuse that passes as a "journalism" article. Now to clarify the "jurisdiction" part you have to go back to when the admendment was ratified and see what the understanding of "under the jurisdiction" was meant to mean,which was this

the ORGINAL Intent of the 14th admendment was because of the 13th for the reasons as follows.

So,in My opinion (which the current "Courts" wont uphold),children of ILLEGAL aliens born in the US should NOT be granted automatic citenship simply because the parents have no alliegance to the US nor do most intend to as evident by their Illegal entry into the US and failure to apply for US citizenship or visas to enter the US.

IMO, the 14th amendment MUST be amended. The authors couldn't foresee the 20th and 21st century surges of illegals. The birthright concept must be deleted. I didn't see any mention of that situation in anyone's post except yours. However, if a person is born to an illegal and a legal then they should go to civil court to see who gets custody. If the illegal gets custody then they, the baby and parent, go back to where they came from. If the legal gets custody then the baby stays and the illegal gets deported. Not hard to solve. The immigration law is geared to the needs of our country and not to every Tom, Dick, and Harry that wants to come here. That being said once a person is legal the law offers them a route to bring their family over once they are established and aren't riding the entitlement wagon. Its not supposed to allow every body to come here and bring their extended families just so they can ride welfare, food stamps and free health care.

I would agree that the system needs to be reformed in some ways but not to allow millions of untrained, unskilled, ignorant peons to flood over. The law should be stricter in that it should be adjustable each year to the needs of the country and the state of our economy and to the skills and education levels of those being allowed in.

The only other highly publicized prolific breeders I know of with no ostensible means of supports are Octomom and Kate Gosselin. Octomom, 14 kids, made her mark as a free-loader for decades as she lived her obsession of having babies with no means to support them other than negative notoriety, reality TV and donations from bleeding hearts. Gosselin, with 8 kids was married, but relied on reality TV notoriety for financial support. The best I can say for either of these societal leeches is.... at least they're US citizens.

Questions still plague me: The media obviously knows the names and locations of these illegals, because they interview and publicize them in articles. Does they formally turn over their findings to ICE and DHS? If yes, why don't government agencies initiate deportation? These are really rhetorical questions, because most of us know the answers.
