I eat fruits and vegetables, exercise each day (today I lifted weights and played basketball for 3 hours). I've been on a regular exercise program most of my life with few periods of being sedentary. Yet I still have extra weight on me, a roll around the middle of my stomach, and a bit more spread out over the rest of it. Of my 210 pound weight at 5'11" I estimate I could lose about 15 pounds of fat.
How did it get there? Well the body changes over time, how much it stores. My diet has not changed drastically over my life. I was slightly chubby growing up as a kid, got skinny as a preteen, then in my mid twenties my body changed again and broadened out, and started gaining some extra weight. Hormone changes? Gut bacteria changes? I'm no scientist.
I do think it's unattractive though, and if there was a cheap and effective method to get the roll off my stomach I'd happily go for it. I have nice abs hidden underneath it.
Main point is, when diet and exercise aren't enough and you have some money to spare, there are solutions. I WOULD advocate to people to try the diet and exercise routes first, and turn to medical procedures if and when those didn't work fully.
I read on today.com that 50 Cent had to lose lots of weight for a movie, so he looked up online how other actors did it. He started a regimen of several hours each day on a treadmill and having a liquid protein diet. So yeah, if you can stand to cut out all carbs and sugars and fats out of your diet, eventually you'll drop. It probably won't be pleasant getting there though.
Sounds like you haven't been following the correct diet. Or the correct excersize plan. I went from 196lbs to 140 in a 3 months. P90 or P90x are excellent programs. But mostly it is your diet. You can make excuses or change your lifestyle once and for all. Diets don't work that great. It has to be permanent. Some day when one is serious about actually making a difference you will. But the excuses will keep rolling in for most folks. Which is unfortunate. It isn't easy. It is one of the most difficult things you will ever do. Use the above programs and it will work. And no, I don't work for them. Only sharing a remarkable routine and recommending it. It's all about burning more than you take in. And eating the right foods that accelerate burning fat. Education is what it is about. Knowledge is power and the transforming of your body does require knowledge. Flame me if you want. But I know it works. Laziness only hurts yourself. Only one way to lose weight. Change your diet, change your lifestyle and work your body like it was meant to be naturally. All the preservatives these days are killing us. Aspartame, splenda, all the other dieting crap is just that. Destructive and dangerous to your health.
Liposuction was never designed for significantly overweight people - in fact it's there for people who DO exercise and eat well but still have persistant fat that they are unlikely to get rid of. Basically, fat cells are storage cells, and though you can reduce what they hold, you have a harder time getting rid of the cell itself. That's where lipo comes in - when you've lost what you can but still have a little left over that just won't go away.
Just look at the folks in California - those whose body parts never jiggle anywhere and the men who now have "washboard abs" gained through the same plastic surgery route.
I don't really want to be a plastic person. I don't think it would be too enjoyable for my husband either.
Just lazy is all he is. Someday people will get it. It doesn't take a genius to be in great shape. Just someone with some inspiration, dedication, the right mindset and the tools required to transform their bodies. Nothing wrong with old people being in good shape. Taking care of ones body helps insure less hardships and medical problems in your lifespan. Not that they can't still happen. But they are greatly reduced. America is too fat. It's time for education and less excuses.
There is no point. If you do liposuction or this procedure your going to just continue with your diet the way you are now and in 4 or 5 months down the road be in the same spot you were before. Change your lifestyle, change your diet, excersize and see the results naturally. Seriously it sounds hard but if you apply yourself then you can acheive it. The biggest obstacle is the psychological side. I was nearly 200lbs once. Will never go back to that again. With the right tools and knowledge it can be achieved.
Well, for those of you wondering if Zerona is indeed the Holy Grail of non-invasive fat loss, I am here to tell you for a fact that it is NOT. I had it done in Dec. of 2009. Total waste of money. While I was "measured" before and after, at 10 different areas on my body, and the after measurements totaled a 5 inch "loss", I saw no difference and my clothes fit exactly the same. I am out $2400. No refund. Buyer beware.
Really? Who would have thought if you did not change your diet or start and excercise regimen that you would not see a change in your body after they send some freezy lazer thing into your fat cells. The problem with this is that you have to keep getting it done, because you don't change your lifestyle.
Go get a good workout program. They cost about 80 - 200 bucks. Old fashioned way. Buy some kettlebells / barbells and use your own body weight. Lunges, pullups, pushups, etc etc... man has been getting in shape that way for thousands of years. Try it... guaranteed results!! Change your diet too obviously. That is probably 90% of the problem.
Is it available in Orlando, FL.? Let me sign up for testing here! I am disabled and exercising is not something I can do and I am on a very strict diet, but I still have some fat I would be glad to get rid off - then I could be COOL too!
Will Medicare cover it? Obamacare changes from day to day and there are no written guidelines yet!?
Gave me a good chuckle tonight - maybe they can freeze my double chin too! This gives a whole new meaning to "ice sculpting". !!!
They are the tops of the muffin, that are better than the rest of the muffin. I thought that would have been obvious.
I think in this case though they are talking about the roll that goes around your lower abdomen and love handles, as well as the lower back fat some people have. Kind of looks like a muffin curled over the top of your jeans. Oh God...Mental picture...think I need to ARRRRFFFFFF!
A lot of women that are not wash-board ab skinny but think they are wear jeans two sizes too small because they can't accept the fact that they went up a size or so and so when they wear these wrong-sized jeans their tiny bit of chub comes up over the tops of the jeans and they kind of look like a muffin in the paper cup. Having a little big of extra skin and wearing the right size pants would make you look gorgeous instead of looking like you're all squished in to something that obviously doesn't fit. Like the short chubby "I use to be a cheerleader but haven't lost my freshman 15 from 4 years ago" do. As they grossly over-tan their skin and dye their hair white-blonde.
I am actually referring to a horrible girl on TLC's Addiction show that had an addiction to tanning. She was gross but thought "Everyone's going to die, I'm just going to die...hot" but she was actually disgusting. Sorry for the rant just so sick of people killing themselves for what THEY think is beautiful.
Muffin tops are the result of a too-tight waistband around a too-fat mid section. The extra fat is pushed up and over the waistband, creating a look similar to the batter of a muffin when it is baked and overflows the cupcake cup. Two ways to solve that problem....buy some clothes that fit or hit the gym and lose the fat. A great place to start is the BFFM website. (Google it.)
Did any of you actually watch the video that accompanied the article? Because it stated in plain english that medicare most definetly does not cover these procedures and that they are not meant for obese patients or intended as a weight loss method. It's supposedly about "body contouring" or changing your shape, not necessarily making you smaller (eventhough they do boast about 3 in losses in measurements). If you go into this thinking your going to go in looking like Monique and come out looking like Janet Jackson (on a good day), it's your fault when you don't get the results your looking for. You can't say you wern't warned.
I am not sure what the article meant when it said other treatments that diabetes can not have. Did that mean they can not have liposuction? I wonder why if they can't.
People are always searching for "easy". Easy is what got us in this darn federal criminal mess in this country. So, my suggestion to everyone, "easy" has a price, sometimes severe. To be healthy, all one has to do is eat wholesome, organic and locally grown foods (not corporate garbage), and exercise. Yes, folks, we have to do the work and sweat a little, as nature intended.
Regardless of much technology we produce, or how smart we think we are, some things in nature, and according to Nature's Universal Laws, our bodies will welcome good, live food and exercise.
By the way, exercise is one of the few (best) ways to prevent osteoporesis. The human body is one of the few beautiful and wonderful "machines" that gets better with use. USE IT, OR LOSE IT.
It's obvious this treatment won't completely prevent stuff from coming back and it's a complete waste of time and money just like liposuction - just take care of yourself, eat right, excerise, buy a pair of SPANX and be happy with yourself.
I'm currently using the HCG weight loss program and love it. I've lost 11 pounds in 15 days! According to instructions, the program runs through 3 phases over 9 weeks. The body's metabolism is re-set to normal during this time, after which I can eat normally again without yo-yo dieting. You lose gradual weight all over (FAST), including my "muffin top" which is shrinking daily.
My metabolism was lowered after surgery 20 years ago. I used to be able to eat anything without weight gain. I surmise the body changes at various stages, (like stopping smoking) and people start gaining weight.
This program was recommended by a fitness club trainer who diagnosed me as "clinically obese"!
He said after I lose the fat, he'll put me on a muscle toning program. I'm a happy camper!!
Yes, it is a lifestyle change and one I can "live with".
A lot of people seem to think "Aw, you oughta work out if you REALLY want to lose weight." This shouldn't be about weight loss or a "magic bullet" to replace real effort; it's about spot treatment. I've lost 50 lbs this year, I have a healthy BMI, I'm the right weight for my height, age, and sex, and I have a healthy percentage body fat. But I can't get rid of a little roll of fat on my lower gut, and if I lost any more weight it comes off places I don't want it to (like my boobs) instead of my stomach. THAT is what this treatment is meant to be for. It's not like you're going to just sit there eating cheetos and be thin with this thing; it's meant to take a little off those stubborn spots that just won't go no matter how much you lose.
...except that it won't work for that kind of fat. Verona is for "sculpting" and "coutouring" which are fancy words to say that they're spot-dehydrating the fat cells so you see some improvement, but upon resuming normal activity, the cells will fill out again....not "die" as the article states. The only thing that kills fat cells is removal of the fat cell. If you're left with hanging skin/fat after serious weight loss, that's were a good, skilled plastic surgeon could really help. By "good" and "skilled" I mean one certified by one or more of the nationally recognized plastic surgery professional organizations, such as the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Not some bargain-basement folding-table nut job like they have down in Miami that'll get rid of the extra skin for a couple hundred dollars. You get what you pay for, and for the cost of this stupid Verona treatment, you could be well on your way to actually getting the last of the extra skin reduced in a way that will be effective and permanent....not just a waste of your money and time.
Oh thank goodness we don't have to eat vegetables and exercise now!
I eat fruits and vegetables, exercise each day (today I lifted weights and played basketball for 3 hours). I've been on a regular exercise program most of my life with few periods of being sedentary. Sorry that's just weird. I can just imagine 95 year olds walking around trying to look 20 something, ho wait thats already happening
Just look at the folks in California - those whose body parts never jiggle anywhere and the men who now have "washboard abs" gained through the same plastic surgery route.

I love how you lump everyone in California into the same category.
You must be one of those MidWest or Southern rural farmers, eh?

What about insurance coverage or is it considered cosmetic??
Probably not covered by insurance, but most major plans will pay for a gym membership, or get you a discount. Then you will feel like you earned it.
There is no point. If you do liposuction or this procedure your going to just continue with your diet the way you are now and in 4 or 5 months down the road be in the same spot you were before. Wow, that's pretty cool.
Spock.... set phasers to fat bastard....
very funny star trek reference v... considering star trek is for nerds!
Or just get your fat behind to the gym...
McDonalds and Burger King stock will rise at the opening bell in the am........................
Is it covered under Obama Care Program????
No, and neither is retardation - so you're out of luck.

Boy am I dissappointed. I thought it said "Freeze your fart"
I can see why you would be disappointed....
Proof that Federal government is our enemy when it approves a plastic toy for medical use, and
bilks elderly and obese Americans out of HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of dollars paid by MEDICARE.
'Cooling laser' my ass, like 'laser cosmetic surgery', closest thing to BILLION DOLLAR VOODOO!
And we're paying THREE TIMES FOR IT!! No, FOUR TIMES!! First for the bogus medical procedure
paid by our Medicare Trust Fund. Second for bogus FDA inspectors who should be 'cool lasered'
to the dark side of Metamoros. Third, for the lost lives and lost productivities of the sucker victims.
Fourth, for the inevitable, delayed, more costly lipo or surgical reduction which the survivors need.
Oh, and FIFTH, for our corrupt Congress, which prohibits import of low-cost European treatments.
No diets, no exercise, just looting. Welcome to the Third Millennium, ... in the Seventh Circle of Hell.
You know those pills your doctor prescribed? You should start taking them again.
If you imagine Doc from "Back to the Future" dictating your post, its pretty funny though.
Where is the Delorian Scott? I mean really man. Are you wearing a tin foil helmet?
Is it available in Orlando, FL.? Let me sign up for testing here! I am disabled and exercising is not something I can do and I am on a very strict diet, but I still have some fat I would be glad to get rid off - then I could be COOL too!

If it melts fat cells and they "die" can they use that laser to kill cancer cells?
I am not sure what the article meant when it said other treatments that diabetes can not have. Did that mean they can not have liposuction? I wonder why if they can't.
The "real women have curves" campaign just lost some points.
You just gained some.

Can it be used on the penis? Mine is horribly obese.

I've always thought muffin tops were love handles meant to grabbed or tickled.
i've always thought muffin tops where meant to grabbed or tickled.
a little bit of fat never hurt anybody whom wants to look like a stick figure?!
i still think muffin tops are fun to grab and tickle.
just stop being the big fat sloppy pigs you all are and get off that fat arse and be more active.
