The Senate is working hard to take away not just our rights to farm but consumers choice.
“There is no absolute right to consume or feed children any particular food.” [A–p. 25]
“There is no ‘deeply rooted’ historical tradition of unfettered access to foods of all kinds.” [A–p. 26]
“Plaintiffs’ assertion of a ‘fundamental right to their own bodily and physical health, which includes what foods they do and do not choose to consume for themselves and their families’ is similarly unavailing because plaintiffs do not have a fundamental right to obtain any food they wish.” [A–p. 26]
“There is no fundamental right to freedom of contract.” [A–p. 27]
by putting in the bill such language as “no rights to choose your own food” it is probably aimed at those wanting raw milk and other such “dangerous” choices but if you get a govt full of dictators and they will be feeding you whatever THEY feel is right for you..solent green, anyone? As for raw milk being harmful, show me the huge numbers who have died from raw milk. Where are the raw milk junkies wandering the streets, robbing others for a few bucks, selling their children, to get their next raw milk fix. If handled properly, raw milk will be safe.
I have done some research on the dangers of raw milk and have come to the conclusion it's pretty much "Junk Science". "Countryside" small stock journal (May/June 2011 edition) had a very eye opening article about this issue. If governments, States and Federal, know so much about whats so good for the population, more power to them, I for one, will not adhere to the policy of what I can and cannot eat or drink. I feel it's time to put halter on how much influence the government has over the people. We should vote out the wanna be dictators and elect people who has at least a high school education that wasn't done "online".
