"'Hiccup girl' may use Tourette's defense", and then the Twinkie defense, and then the diminished capacity defense, and then the ‘I am addicted to something’ defense, and on and on and on. It is sad to see what has happened to our society.

I'm not sure how you extrapolate one murderer with a wacky defense strategy into a condemnation of our society. I'm not saying our society is in good shape by any means but to use this weird situation as proof of your assertion is pretty strange in itself. Kind of like "In the end days girls with hiccups will start robbing and murdering young men and claim the hiccups were to blame."
