Not enough people know about e-Cigarettes. I don't see them advertised for at all! Definitely helped my cravings better than patches/gums: http://bit.ly/eCigarette
The reason you don't see much on e-cigarettes is the FDA has banned the manufacture in the US, and customs has stopped the importing. Why, because the government is deciding how to tax them, beyond the normal sales tax. Tax them as cigarettes, or as drugs? Ban them from non smoking areas, or not? Once again, big brother is trying to control your life. That's what big government does best.
I tried e-cigarettes, and they honestly did not help me. It just wasn't satisfying. It was a cruel tease, and it made me want to smoke more. I think I'll be better off just going cold turkey.
I think e-cigarettes are ok but are a worse crutch than many other alternatives out there. If waking up earlier works I guess go for it but here are some things I learned along the way to quit smoking. http://bit.ly/cdNaC7
I have an e-cigarette. I have the VaporKing from Vapor4Life. I stopped smoking regular cigarettes on April 25th (from 2 packs a day and 48 mg of nicotine). I'm now down to 18 mg of nicotine.

Twin studies are very common. That way, you can make sure that EVERYTHING is physically identical, except for the one thing you want to study. If one smokes, and one doesn't, it's easier to tease out the effects than if you have two totally physically different people.
I used to be irritated by the ex-smokers who said "just put them down. quit." Then I did just that. I put them down three years ago and have not ever taken even one puff. Not saying it's not hard. But it's been worth it. In these days of things happening that are beyond our control, this is something that is total in our control.
Of course the stop smoking ads on TV sure do make it sound like you're going to fail. (IF you want to quit smoking...) [*Unspoken* but you WON'T...]
Congratulations on quitting! Many things really are just a case of "just do it", but it's hard to believe it until you finally try. Whether it's quitting smoking, starting to exercise, eating better, going back to school, etc.
Ugh. They're talking about me. Yes, a pleasure seeking night person. What they don't really examine much is that night activities are often more conducive to smoking, driving at night, going to outdoor events, even camping. I do frequent some bars, but you can't smoke indoors anyway here.
Getting up earlier? That just means I'll smoke more by evening than I normally would. May give that a try though on my next attempt. Not a stupid study by the way mccain. Maybe hundreds, or even thousands will extend their healthy lives by being able to quit as the result of a study like this.
This assumes that you can change whether you are a "morning person" or a "night person." I am a morning person, and I smoke, although I've been trying to quit almost since I started over 20 years ago. The same thing that makes you a "night person" or "pleasure seeker" (which might just be in your brain) could be a lot harder to change than your sleep/wake habits.
Me too. I am a heavy smoker and I am in bed by 8 and up at 4. Heck I am so addicted that I would smoke in my sleep if someone would hold it for me lol. They just banned smoking anywhere on company property so I am trying e cigarettes.
But with e-cigarettes, you're not eliminating the tactile sensation and habit. That's what gets me far more than the nicotine addiction. The HABIT of lighting up and holding the bloody things! I've had occasions when I was extremely busy at work and went 8 to 12 hours before even noticing that I hadn't smoked. Once we were caught up... I'd have three. :|`
Find the thing(s) that will help you most to quit... and obsess away. For me, at this point it's all about the MONEY. They're approaching $9 per pack and that adds up to over $3k per year. That's a ridiculous amount of money to spend on something that's essentially killing you.
The article shows some possible conclusions for a particular test group... and it will probably not fit more than 1% of the people who read it...
I finally quit 2 years ago after smoking for 40 years. I learned that if you don't really want to quit, nothing will help you to do so. If you really want to quit, you can do it without help.
I quit smoking about seven months ago for the fact that I was getting really bad acid reflux, heart burn and sharp pains in my throat. I figured if I didn't want to end up on an operating table and talking with an electronic voice box or worse, I had better quit. For the first six months after quitting I kept having alot of strong urges (all psychological) and then one night something happened and my stress level went through the roof. I went to the corner store and bought a pack of smokes. I smoked 11 cigarettes in three hours and on the last one I felt sick and my lungs felt stiff, could hardly breath in. Since then I have hated them and don't have the urge any more. My point is, if you really aren't totally disgusted with them, you might have a hard time quitting. Oh, yeah, haven't had any stomach trouble ot throat trouble since I quit.
As far as being an early person and being easier to quit I think thats hogwash. Besides brushing my teeth and having a glass of water a cig is the first thing I go for. Doesn't matter whether your a night owl or early morning person you have to want to quit to quit.
I enjoy smoking, but I am a very considerate smoker. I don't smoke around my kids nor people that don't smoke. Granted it isn't a good habit to have but It is my flaw.
I want to stop smoking so BAD, but just can not win the fight. I;ve tried every pill or what ever out there. If I ever do manage to stop then I will know anyone can stop. Anouther thing why will insurance companys not help pay for chantex or any other aid. But will have to chip in when your sick? I did get close on the chantex put could not afford a 100.00 dollors a week for the pills.
That is part of the problem. Chantex worked for many people but if you don't have the money you are left out. If the government really wanted to help people quit they would pay for this and make getting off of smoking free. The problem is; they really really don't want everyone to quit because they are making a boatload of tax money on them and it is not going towards helping anyone quit. Two faced BS just like Don't Ask Don't Tell. Clinton must have been visiting a kindergarten class when he dreamed that one up. I suppose that is what happens when you elect lawyers to run the country.
I'm an Early Bird, no late nights this is the tipical Bulony, by researchers. Spend a Million dollars to give a doctor, his "income". He gives you garbage. In the last 25 years I really have gotten up at 2:30 or 4:30 am, read my Bible and gone on to work, or if out of work, stayed at home. I still smoke yes even at 2:30 am. No interest in the late night set. The Bible does not outlaw smoking, the country club "Christians" do. They have a Pharasee foundation, if you want to join the club, we do not allow SMOKERS.
Amen Bodine. Great job Karen, I'll praying with you and for you.
I've never smoked, ended up with Lymphoma anyway, had chemo, radiation, stem cell transplant, injected radiation, immunotherapies galore.
Lung cancer patients don't get the stem cell transplant option to my understanding, and it probably saved my life. Lung cancer patients are always the hardest to see as it progresses - they can't breathe and wither away, painfully. Sounds ugly, I know, but it is what it is.
I watched people drag their IV pole 8 floors down from the cancer ward, to take two steps outside the building then light up cigarette after cigarette. Weak people? Strong addiction? I don't know, but know it is very sad to watch, and even sadder to watch their famililes as they watch their loved ones care more about a cigarette then about themselves, or those family members. The allure, the addiction, I have no way to relate to it, but it is oh so sad for oh so many reasons.
I pray any of you struggling with it can find a way to quit.
I sure pray that none of my tax dollars paid for anymore of these studies. It's all crap. I'm so sick and tired of the words "a new study has shown" We hear these words on the news almost every night and I just see all our tax dollars funding what is obvious. I cringe every time I hear those words now. We don't need to know if stuff like this causes people to smoke. Life causes people to smoke and doing a study like this is not going to make them quit.
I think that every citizen here in the USA should become saints. With all of the things that we read and see about our health here, if we follow these directions we should all live to be 200 years old. But we wouldnt have a bit of fun in our lives because we would all be to restricted. Get a life and enjoy the time we have here on earth!
I would say try Chantix, I went from 2.5 packs a day for 30 + years to 0 in two weeks, it's been six weeks and things are still going good. Staying on it for one more month then we will see what happens. It cost a lot less than cigarettes and I can smell and taste again. You would be surprised at what you are missing...
Not enough people know about e-Cigarettes. I don't see them advertised for at all! Definitely helped my cravings better than patches/gums: http://bit.ly/eCigarette
e-Cigarettes suck!
I ordered the e-cigarettes I don't like the taste and it is way to storge for me do they have an lighter cig?

Did I read this right? The studies mentioned were done on TWINS? WHYYY?
Twin studies are very common. That way, you can make sure that EVERYTHING is physically identical, except for the one thing you want to study. If one smokes, and one doesn't, it's easier to tease out the effects than if you have two totally physically different people.

This article is stupid. I am definately not a morning person at all and I absolutely cannot stand cigarette smoke... just a dumb study.
And you certainly are a definitive sample.
Ugh. They're talking about me. Yes, a pleasure seeking night person. What they don't really examine much is that night activities are often more conducive to smoking, driving at night, going to outdoor events, even camping. I do frequent some bars, but you can't smoke indoors anyway here.

I smoke so I don't know who they researched for the stupid article because I get up at 5:00am and I'm in bed by 9:00.
Me too. I am a heavy smoker and I am in bed by 8 and up at 4. Heck I am so addicted that I would smoke in my sleep if someone would hold it for me lol. They just banned smoking anywhere on company property so I am trying e cigarettes.
Again a study that is BULL*HIT. How can I get some money to do a study as stupit as this?

Thank's for the common cent's!
Damn!!! Nine dollars a pack. And we cuss three twenty nine around here.
Chantix worked for me. 2 years smoke free! I ran a half marathon on my one year anniversay of not smoking. And I am a night owl!
I ran a half marathon, and walked a full marathon... and I am still a smoker. And a morning person. Oh well.
what a bunch of crap...want to quit?..then quit...no excuses...

Nobody likes a quitter.
ROFLMAO
Except for Palin fans.

Wow, you're right. Your singular, anecdotal evidence is WAY more convincing than a study consisting of thousands of people.
What about people who stay up late but get up early? what benefit would getting up early have in their case?
Anybody can quit smoking. It takes a man to face down cancer.
I am on Day 5 and it is still touch and go the thing is I know I can't afford the habit each hour is a prayer
I want to stop smoking so BAD, but just can not win the fight. I;ve tried every pill or what ever out there. If I ever do manage to stop then I will know anyone can stop. Chantix was covered by my boyfriends insurance... He has been smoke free two weeks now, I hope it continues to go so well!
P.S. He is definitely a night-owl, as am I (but never smoked), quitting seems to have made his sleeping easier and more regular!

What is your point? They just said it is MORE LIKELY, and HARDER TO QUIT. They didn't say anything about morning people never smoking.
Read the article again.
i worked night shift for 30+years and smoked almost 1 pk per day;transfered to a day job and stopped "cold turkey" 3 months later.
Amen Bodine. Great job Karen, I'll praying with you and for you.
