Doctorates are linked to skewed studies associated with achieving government grants. Without any gov't money, I determined that old age contributed to death in a majority of cases for people over 70.
I was thinking of carnivores that live in the wild. How often do they die of esophageal/ stomach cancer? Not once have I heard of a case study from an article or nature study..
Another ? How was the meat cooked,over open flame-over charcoal-in hot oil-over propane-over natuaral gas-over electric burners???
How do we know how to safely cook the meat that all mankind has been eating since the dawn of our existance???
I will not say the study did not find a point for more study, but way to many of my ancesters lived past 85 without cancer ( all 31 in last generation-I am 50 ) that they are refering to.
I have a roommate that is vegitarian-and do not see him having any less prone problems/illness's than any one else.
I like your question to be studied further for its affects on cooking habits more than the cooking habits themselves!!!
79% increase in getting cancer. This is meaningless if you don't know what the chances are in the first place. If there is a 2% chance of getting throat cancer and eating red meat cooked at high temps increases chances 79%, you now have about a 3.6% chance. Statistically insignificant.
Please get me another piece of my favorite animal....STEAK!
backin the 60's or 70's there was a cancer issue , related to certain ( Red ) food dyes and colorings causing cancer ......... in particular there were issues with the red dye being used in the maraschino cherries ... ( FDA removed it from the food chain)...... What Red Dye or food coloring is used in the meats being currently marketed ?????????????????????????
I agree that excessive intake of meats by humans over time would result in some acquired sicknesses including cancer, especially when it is not balanced by an equal intake of fresh fruits and vegetables. Meats and processed sugars are highly acidic to our bodies while fresh fruits and vegetables are alkaline - opposite ends of pH 7 which is neutral. Our bodies work overtime to balance the pH to 7. If this is not achieved due to excessive abuse by intake of the wrong foods, our bodies remain in a perpetual acidic state and complications starts to develop. Cancer cells thrive and develop in an acidic body. Cooked red meats are highly acidic foods. Limes and lemons highly alkaline.
I find this study somewhat suspect since it was funded by cows.

I think living is linked to death 100% of the time.

Perhaps because of all the antibiotics and hormones, and factory-farm feeding?
I agree 100%

Makes me hungry....anybody have any lighter fluid?
EVERYTHING is linked to cancer.
Might as well eat what you want.
How many of these people suffered Acid Reflux or GERD.
I wish I had read this before I got stomach cancer...too late as normal.

Not surprising...the human body wasn't designed to process meat of any kind...
