This is one are in which physicians completely sold out to the for-profit pharmaceutical companies.
The pharmaceutical companies wanted a "one-size-fits-all" dosage standard and, knowing that it was false, but easy to administer, medicine, physicians went along.
I have a dead nephew because physicians used this standard and prescribed the same SSRI's for a teenager that they would prescribe for an adult. He blew his brains out at 15. The drug company settled for a huge settlement. It didn't make me feel any better.
A 350-lb defensive lineman gets the same drug dosage as a 109-lb woman.
A 98-year old man gets the same dosage as a 12-year-old girl.
Pharmacists only count pills. Originally they helped physicians calculate dosages based on sex, age, weight, etc.
This is a serious problem with American medicine (and other countries as well, though none are as bad as this one.) In correct drug dosages are a major contributor to the medical malpractice that is the fifth leading cause of death in this country. And a major reason why this country leads the world in malpractice incidents.
OMG, how can you trust an article that can't even get the names of the drugs correct. Prednisolone, please it has been on the market for decades and it is

unfortunately both myself and sister have auto immune disorders that cause, rather force us to take that horrible drug periodically. does anyone ever double check their work especially when it comes to something serious like meds and health? a few weeks back some fool writer said percocet and oxycontin were the same things, NOT. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR WORK BEFORE YOU POST IT, thank you.
Actually Prednisolone is a perfectly legitimate pharmaceutical. Prednisolone is the active metabolite of Prednisone. Many pharmacists and physicians will prescribe the prednisolone when they want a faster, more rapid onset of action, or when the patient would respond more favorably to the active form of the drug.
Obviously anything you can do I can do better does not apply here...so that statement is false. haha

Sorry to hear about your nephew, but this is a very well-written argument. Couldn't have argued it better myself.

So this isn't a typo and is perfectly legitimate.
@ #3
Prednisolone and Prednisone BOTH exist lol. My dog was prescribed Prednisolone.
Prednisolone is the active metabolite of prednisone.
I sure hope they get the dosing right for Midol.
