The article itself said the transmission rate went down by 15%. While not as effective as other vaccines, it is still effective to an extent and can provide some herd immunity factors. Get your vaccines!
It actually says "would" not "did".
Which nullifies your statement of

The public health authority/CDC message that is being sent is the vaccine strategy we have isn't working we need MORE vaccines and if that still doesn't work will need even MORE vaccines.
You don't have to find more ammo when the facts are out there. B. Pertussis is always around and the vaccinated can serve as reservoirs.

We anti-vaxxers don't need any ammo. There is plenty evidence out there regarding the dangers and the poor track record of vaccinations. Anyway, if your 'immunization' is immunizing you, what do you have to worry about?
We have to worry about our infants who are too young to receive certain vaccinations. It would be one thing if people who choose not to be vaccinated were only putting themselves at risk but unfortunately they're putting anyone too young to receive the vaccination at risk as well! And what's worse is that many of these outbreaks are much more dangerous or even fatal for infants than they are for adults.
WHY? Who told you to be worried? Why did they tell you that?
Well with whooping cough the vaccinated can be the culprits! How do you know who "spreads" it? You don't.
The vaccine is for the toxin not the bacteria.
If you were vaccinated, how do you know if your vaccine even worked in the first place or if the "immunity" hasn't waned?
Vaccines are crap. The proof is out there.
If you dont' agree with me, then have at it and get as many as you can. I know I won't and I won't subject my kids to it either.

Who told me to be worried? How about anyone who lived before these vaccinations were available. Talk to your older relatives. Prior to the development of the whooping cough vaccine there were 200,000 cases and 10,000 deaths annually. In 2004-2005 there were 66 deaths in the US and 85% of those were infants under 3 months of age. (Source: American Academy of Pediatrics)

I'm actually allergic to the pertusis vaccine, otherwise I'd have received an adult booster when I switched doctors. When I received the DPT boosters, I had a "severe reaction" to the pertusis vaccine which required an overnight stay in the hospital. I keep up to date on other vaccines I know about and get a flu vaccine every other year.
Now that the tetanus booster includes the pertusis, I may have to cross that one off the list though.
I had whooping cough (pertussis) when I was in college and 20 years old. My 18 yo sister caught it from me. We were sick six months and two months respectively. The two doctors I saw during the 1st month I was sick, thought I just had a bad cold. One gave me a little cough medicine which I shared with my sister. Even with cough medicine during the night, we had to sit up in bed to sleep. To keep from having coughing spells and whoops long enough to get some sleep, I didn't lay down for months. A week after my last whoop, I found out what I'd had from a third doctor. Please, doctors, don't dismiss college students whooping cough as normal colds. I wonder how many people my sister and I gave whooping cough to, because in our ignorance, we continued to attend classes throughout the whole sickness.
One of the factors that causes an uptick in whooping cough cases is awareness by doctors. When they start looking for it it gets diagnosed more.
It's always around.
As others has have said, vaccines are to protect me. Not sure why they are focusing on the benefit to "everyone else". Who vaccinates their children for any other reason than to protect their children?
My wife got pertussis and cracked a rib. Had trouble sleeping for months. Get the vaccine people, it's bundled with tetanus which you should get a booster for every ten years anyway.
I had whooping cough where I was a small child. I am now in my 50's. Do I need to be vaccinated?
They neglected to state that NINE of the children that died, were too young to receive any vaccine. The largest group other than infants, were teens that had probably not received their booster shorts.
Neither did they state the demographics of who were becoming sick.
IMO - This was more a break-down of the public health services and early diagnosis of the disease. Trying to blame the anti-vaccine people is just more Political Science. It would be just as easy to point at the ILLEGALS. Neither are totally to blame.
I will never take a vaccination unless I approve ALL the ingredients in the juice. As an example, I do not want fermaldehyde(sp) in my body.
