The United Nations asked for $164 million Friday to fight the cholera outbreak in Haiti that has already claimed 724 lives and is expected to continue spreading for up to a year.

No problem, we will just print up some more of that monopoly money we been using for stimulus!

Before I start the printing press, I want to know how much of the money will go towards their cruise ship for their parties.

But where are the millions of US taxpayer funds that Obammy already pledged to them? Who gave him permission to do that anyway? These people have to learn to take care of themselves. It's tough love, but they have to go it alone this time.

I viewed the news on CBC (Canada) several weeks ago, and Canadians were asking where their funds for 'Haiti / Operation Blessing' have gone!

This issue was grave last week and all signs pointed in the direction that it would become much more serious and grave. And, it has! Are you really serious, i.e. "learn to take care of themselves & go it alone this time?"

The U.N. is simply asking the EU Nations that only pledged and did not follow-up on their pledge / word to "step up." They are not asking the US, you, or me, so rather than saying they'll have to 'paddle their own canoes', it's obvious they're up a creek without a paddle. Really dying as we blog this article which seemingly has unnerved more people than I thought.

The two charitable organizations worth their salt are Doctors Without Borders and Partners in Health and the two I will continue to support. I've wondered why our fabulous entertainment industry has not participated recently. They're probably asking the same question! Sean Penn has been actively involved and continues to make news because he's not afraid to 'ream' the organizations to do more.

Even worse, is that we allow their leader, Preval, to remain in his seat!

Just so you know that money has not been given to the haitian's people yet. Call your president and your contry delegates and ask them, just because they pledge it does not mean it's paid.

Haiti:

It would be wonderful to send them huge amounts of Aid again for all the suffering and the future deaths of these people. Altruism.

During the last Earthquake in Haiti, NOTHING was accomplished. The poor are still dying from that disaster, the waters there, still tainted, disorientated..

It is their Corrupt Government who "skims" the money off the top for themselves. How can we all help the Haitians?.

The only way to do that if to give of our selves, help, going there to educate each and every citizen. They are kept from learning of anything or what there Government is about. (this is just about impossible).

It is one large Dictatorship; the Haitians will never be free, even if we send them all the money. Money doesn't cure gangsters from stealing it right from their own poverty, uneducated people.

It is almost "Tribal". "Who's looking out for them". Good idea, but can't be put into real action.

It is one Hell Hole. What about the Concert that was performed to help Haitians during the Earthquake. I remember it as a fraud, the money never getting there.

Send drugs, but no cash.

164 million is small, why not ask some of the worlds rich to pony up the bucks. Perhaps a few businesses with interest in Haiti can come up with the money in exchange for services and or products in the future

The Money just doesn't get there. Haiti is responsible for their own citizens. It is a tragic story as in many other countries.

How about American Haitians going there and helping out? They, at least can relate to their own people.

Money isn't the cure. Many Philanthropists probably have already "given til it hurts". They remain Anonomymous.

Haiti is equal to giving aid to Africa. Has it helped. Is Sudan better off, or Rwanda, the Congo, and other remote places?

Hawaii this is my point, Haiti is primarily made up of decedents of the 17th and 18th century slave trade, with all originating from Africa. Now many on newsvine will construe what I am .saying as racist, so first let me give examples, during the Tsunami Asians from all over the world contributed through private donations for relief, this was the same for the Serbs, Israel in the beginning, most countries who suffered disasters always received aid from the world but they also received a majority of their aid from private citizens primarily of their own origins, whether ethnicity or race.

What I am suggesting is why are people such as the Oprahs and Diddys arent opening their wallets or having fund raising for this tragedy.

Perhaps they are but if so the media is stifling or hiding their efforts, I do not live in the States so perhaps I am missing these efforts .

Oprah, Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, and all extremely wealth Americans do give to these countries. It is also a way for them to get tax-writeoffs, and unload their $$$. Anonomymous/private donations. They don't want people to know who gave what. It is a common thing to do in the US, so others do not know what is given, or by who, or who they favor..

Quitely, Charities here and Foreign Countries are endowed by them. That is their "duty"; when having this much money. It might be misconstrued the wealthy want publicity. They give from their hearts.

America prospered immensely in their partnership of greed with Duvalier. The Reynolds company made Billions off illegal squandering of Bauxite rights and American businessmen, investors, exporters and manufacturers raped the country blind and built their fortunes on the backs and lives of the Haitian people. Duvalier was our man of choice for the job and his iron rule, our high paid military and the cronies we sent to keep the island under an iron fist, all made for giant spoils in this country. Do you have any idea how much we have stripped that country of? Rights to natural gas and oil reserves, copper rights, underwater treasures, cement production and millions of acres of cultivatable land. Americans own those rights and receive those revenues. 44% of all US aid, overal,l to that country goes toward employing the military to Protect our interests and thus ensure that you get your welfare benefits on time each month!

Maybe you get your welfare benefits each month Gazelle. Welfare that is paid by people like me that work and pay taxes so you can sit on your bottom and do nothing. I do not even know anyone that has collected or does collect welfare. Those would be your peers, not mine.
